What a honor and exhilarating experience to be 2nd Unit DOP for a Nat Geo docu-series about NASA’s Artemis II mission, pushing humans farther from Earth than we have ever been before. They will orbit around the moon and “slingshot” back to earth using lunar gravity. People often say I’m so lucky to do what I do for a living. I would agree, and I’m very grateful all the time. 🥰
One thing people find shocking about my job as a cinematographer is that I’m often front row for fun sporting events or important moments in history, but I don’t actually see the cool moment. I’m often filming fans or filming people’s reactions, so the viewer can connect on a human level and feel like they are there. So I didn’t see the launch, but I felt the rumble through my whole body, and that was still pretty special. 🎥🤩

It was amazing to hear 100,000+ spectators go completely silent for the 3rd lap to honor Dale Earnhardt at “The Great American Race,” The Daytona 500. We filmed hyped up crowds for days, the concerts, the driver meet and greets, the Air Force Thunderbirds, and then all you can hear is the rumble of stock cars racing around a 2.5 mile track. 🎥

It was an inspirational day to DP a segment for this CBS Special (Courage in Sports) filming John Metchie III at his home in Texas. He beat leukemia with the help of this dog named “Chemo,” the staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and his positive attitude with his unbreakable faith in God. Metchie was a college football star for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and it’s been great to see him work hard and make it back to scoring touchdowns in the NFL with the Houston Texans.
Along with documenting his story, we also created a docu-style Iam’s commercial for social media and broadcast television. As a football fan, it was also cool to see him practice one handed catches in person.

Calm before the storm at the site of in September. 🤩 While filming drone video at sunset, it’s often difficult to capture the beauty of what your eye can see. That’s where photography, multiple exposures, and a little Photoshop comes in handy.

There aren’t many sports that let teachers that are 50+ yrs old compete in 1 of the 4 major championships of the year. For the PGA teaching professionals that spend their normal days teaching other golfers, this tournament is a dream come true. Once our documentary crew started following around a few of these gents, the Cinderella stories became apparent for this CBS special filmed along Lake Michigan.

I got my start as a cinematographer filming my friends surfing over 20 years ago, and the surf camp further inspired me to become a documentarian, making films that dive a bit deeper. The stoke levels are highest with these amazing kids every year! 🤙

It was a pleasure filming a TV segment for a CBS Documentary about how the PGA of America is making golf more inclusive for all. There are some inspiring stories about how golf is changing lives across all walks of life… kids, adults, people with disabilities, and armed service members.

I was Cinematographer / Camera operator for Nathan’s Famous Holiday commercials with the Arri Amira, a wild cast of characters, and lighting 360 degrees for the antics of a family who has 100% premium beef hot dogs at their Christmas feast 🤩🌲😜
