From almost losing the club altogether to building a supporter-owned future, Paul takes us through what fan ownership actually looks like, how St Mirren competes with football’s bigger budgets, the volunteers keeping the club moving behind the scenes, and why community sits at the heart of it all. ⚫️⚪️

⚽ MORE THAN SOCCER: IDENTITY BEYOND THE PITCH

What happens when you start questioning the future you always thought you wanted?

Leeann Passaro grew up competing in one of America’s strongest soccer pathways, with ambitions of playing at an elite college level. But along the way, experiences both on and off the field began changing the way she viewed success, sport and her own identity.

From the devastating loss of a former teammate and navigating her own concussions and mental health struggles, to a difficult college soccer environment and an unexpected opportunity in another sport, Leeann’s journey ultimately led somewhere she never expected.

Today, she is the Executive Director of The Hidden Opponent, helping change the conversation around student-athlete mental health.

In this episode, Leeann shares the story behind that journey and what she discovered when soccer stopped being the only thing defining who she was.

Because sport can be an incredibly important part of who you are without having to be all that you are.

Yesterday, the world lost an icon.

Dolly Parton may not have come from the sporting world, but her words have always reached far beyond music.

Every athlete who has chased a dream knows what it means to be brave enough to try — to put yourself out there, to risk falling short, and to keep going without knowing exactly where the journey will lead.

At Almost Pro, we believe there is value in the pursuit itself, not just where you eventually finish.

Thank you, Dolly, for a lifetime of reminding people to dream big, stay true to themselves, and be brave enough to try.
