Why it’s important to read your labels …
The more you know 💫
This is a brand of cereal well known for being guised a healthier option, more fiber, grains etc
And compared to other sugary cereals, it IS a better option …
But …
Look at the ADDED sugars!
That’s not so bad … or is it? 🤔
When thinking about sugars women should have no more (roughly) than 6g of added sugars a day … & for men, 10g.
So if this is your breakfast … you’ve exceeded your added sugar limit with just your breakfast….
AND if you have more than the 1 cup … recommended as the serving size… your entire day is ahead of you & you’ve just taken in more than all the extra sugars in your first meal alone.
Those sugars are not only adding to inflammation in your gut & joints, they’re contributing to acid reflux/gerd/gastritis, contributing to hormone disruption, muffin tops … & also encouraging more hunger & cravings later.
…And while you’re at it… think about how much those sugars are sneaking into everything in your kids’ nutrition 🤔
So read those labels. Create balance. Be mindful.
