🚨Updated Norwich Scoop!🚨

‼️Fat Cat Grill & Bar has now stated it has permanently closed its doors and will no longer be reopening.

🐱The restaurant at 381 West Main Street in Norwich closed its doors at the end of August and told us it was temporarily closed for renovations but has since announced it is close permanently.

🐱Fat Cat Grill & Bar was a local neighborhood hangout known for its burgers, pizza, and bar classics. They have been in business since 2011 and has continued to operate under 2 different owners.

🐱We previously reported they had temporarily closed for renovation and would reopen; this was confirmed in an email exchange with the owner; though the situation evolved and the closure is now permanent.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vibrant green leaves will soon transition to orange, yellow and red, but the peak of fall foliage season could be delayed by about a week, according to University of Vermont researcher Alexandra Kosiba.

“If it’s really warm, around that time when they’ve historically started the senescence process, they might delay and that’s sort of what we’re seeing,” Kosiba said.

Despite the potential delay, a vibrant season could increase tourism throughout the region.

The National Park Service estimates leaf peepers generate about $8 billion for the region each year, but extreme weather can impact the fall foliage season.

Fall nights in Burlington are almost 4.5 degrees warmer today than they were in 1970.

Sunlight, rainfall, drought and even wildfires can all impact how well and when the trees change.

Travel and Leisure magazine recently released a list of places with the longest fall foliage season with the Adirondacks topping the chart, and Vermont’s Green Mountains placing third.

Areas with the greatest contrast between daytime and nighttime temperatures tend to experience better fall colors.

We are pleased to share that we have agreed to make an appearance at the free inaugural East Hartford Festival of Flight on Saturday, September 19th from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. While weather and field conditions always play a role in kite flying, we are planning to be there and we're looking forward to bringing some of our giant display kites to the event. We know many of you have been asking about our annual displays at Harkness Memorial State Park, and we appreciate all of the support, encouragement, and patience you've shown. We are awaiting DEEP approval, and we are hopeful that we will have news to share in the coming weeks.
