Horatio High School Ambassadors Program!

The inaugural class of Horatio High School Ambassadors and their Advisor, Nicki Litchford, visited the KDQN Studios this morning to share with our audience exciting news about this amazing program!
The program aims to boost school spirit and community involvement. The ambassadors discussed their goals, upcoming events, and their enthusiasm for the program. Ms. Litchford explained the program's purpose in changing the school culture, welcoming new students, and fostering a sense of inclusion among students.

Upcoming Event: A back-to-school movie night on August 7th at the junior high commons area to welcome students back. As the Advisor for the program, Ms. Litchford is focusing on changing the school culture and fostering leadership among students.

Selection Process: Ambassadors were handpicked by teachers based on their qualities and potential.

Pilot Year: The program is in its first year, with plans to develop it further based on the experiences of this year.

Community Connection: The program emphasizes building relationships between the school and the community.

Social Media: The Horatio Lions page and a specific page for the Ambassadors will provide updates on their activities.

We want to give a HUGE SHOUTOUT to incoming DHS Junior - and good friend of KDQN - Kyleigh Faulkenberry, who is considering a post-secondary education at the elite, Ivy League research station Columbia University after graduation!

She recently had an exclusive opportunity to tour the campus in NYC as a prospective student. She is an amazing, talented young woman from Sevier County and we wish her the absolute best as she completes high school and moves on to life's next journey!

She is the daughter of Stacy and Maralyn Faulkenberry, so we know where we she gets it from!

Authorities have arrested an Arkansas man sought in the case of a married couple murdered in Devil's Den State Park on Saturday. The following was released by the ASP earlier tonight:

Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) have arrested James Andrew McGann, 28, of Springdale, in connection to a double homicide that occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Devil’s Den State Park.

McGann was taken into custody at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at a business in Springdale. He was charged with two counts of Capital Murder.

Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were fatally attacked while hiking with their two daughters. The girls, who are 7 and 9, were not injured and are safe with family members.
