🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE — PLEASE HELP US PROTECT OUR PARKS
We are extremely disappointed to share that the West Park Ballfield Complex has once again been the victim of vandalism.
The writing pictured here was spray-painted directly onto one of our buildings, covering part of the artwork that was created to make West Park a welcoming and enjoyable place for our children and families.
This is more than just graffiti.
This is City property. This is your property. This is our community.
The DeRidder Parks & Recreation Department works hard every day to maintain our parks, improve our facilities, and create spaces that our community can be proud of. We have big plans and big goals for the future of our parks, but incidents like this are incredibly discouraging.
It is discouraging to talk about making improvements and investing in new things when we are struggling to keep the things we currently have in decent shape.
Every dollar and every hour spent repairing intentional damage is a dollar and an hour that could have gone toward improvements, new amenities, programs, equipment, and opportunities for our community.
We want to continue improving our parks. We want our children to have beautiful, safe, and enjoyable places to play. We want our ballfields and facilities to be something our community is proud of.
But we need the community's help to protect what we already have.
If you see someone vandalizing City property, please report it. If you know something about this incident, please speak up.
Our parks belong to ALL of us. Please help us take care of them.
We can build better parks, but we have to work together to protect them.
