Photos captured of The Impaler, Lost Legion , The State and 𝓞𝓡𝓟𝓗𝓐𝓝 show at Paris Bar (booked by ZVmotorcity) on September 18th.
Over the past year I’ve gotten an opportunity to photograph many bands and places. The Impaler and his band have a unique and theatrical stage presence. Mistress Donna convincing an audience member to put her foot in his mouth was indeed shocking, horrifying and mesmerizing.
Margaret Doll Rod made a celestial cameo to pay her respects to The Impaler, who was celebrating another year of eternity.
TC traded me vintage funerary photos (Polish Catholic, WWII era, I believe) for an Orphan album.
Due to the chaos of load in and sound check, Mark and I forgot to bring along the custom screen printed posters that our dear friend and bandmate Kyle executed for us. They are limited to 30, 14 x 22, silver and purple ink on black cardstock. The text features the lyrics to our song “Eldora” and an image of “the wrap”—a restraint device used at the Eldora Boys State Training School, a juvenile detention facility still in operation today.
We were privileged to play with such a storied and amazing line up (The State, Lost Legion and The Impaler) and to be booked by Zoë ( zv_motorcity ) who is a true old school promoter. On top of the headache of coordinating logistics ahead of time, she commissions visual artists, prints materials, shows up to other gigs and provides handbills. In the process she supports other bands and promoters by going to their live events, bridging all kinds of music enthusiasts and keeping flyer culture alive while running a strong social media game. In an era of online flyers and paid promotions, it’s refreshing to see her use the olde ways to invite people from beyond our little circle of friends and algorithms. She helps us make a bigger circle of allies with fresh faces and perspectives. We’re lucky to have been the beneficiaries of her booking and promoting style.
Thank you all for your support of our recent release. All orders of our album made this week and onward will get a band patch and show flyer included.
