I'm all for fighting for relationships, expressing yourself, and seeking clarity.

However, after coaching thousands of people, I've seen how relationship disconnections can make people consider unusual actions.

Before doing or saying anything, stop and try to focus on doing something else and talk to a licensed mental health professional.

If you keep having the same fight over different topics, the key question question is not “Who is right?”

It’s "What's the pattern here?"

Maybe you brought up a concern, they heard criticism, they defended, you pushed harder, they shut down, and the original issue never got solved.

The pattern matters because it shows why the same fight keeps coming back with different topics.

This is the kind of work we'll do in my 8-week Communication and Conflict Patterns cohort.

We look at the actual order of the conflict, identify each person’s role in it, and build a clearer process for hard conversations so you’re not having the same argument every month with new details.

P. S. I'm multi-tasking by recording this video and finishing my face mask from Beauty of Joseon.

Beauty is complicated.

I grew up Filipino-American in a tiny Arkansas town where there were no other Asians. So beauty was never just about products. It was about difference, belonging, identity, and what's seen.

That’s why I care about beauty in a very specific way. I’m interested in ingredients, culture, aging, science, identity, and the practical part of living real life. I am fascinated by the routines, behaviors, and interactions that feel kind, make life feel easier, and help us live freely.

This isn’t about buying more things.

Follow me if beauty has ever felt complicated for you, too.

I’ll be sharing deep dives on culture, identity, aging, gender, race, and real-life through the routines and small things I use daily. In all of it, I'm asking the same question:

What helps me feel more like myself?

Help! Plant People, can you recommend any plant growers who can ensure they're sending healthy plants in good condition?

I'm looking for sampaguita and calamansi.

I bought 4 sampaguitas (Maid of Orleans Jasmine) from a grower with good reviews. However, all 4 plants arrived in terrible condition, dead/dying, with nematodes, and having root rot and root damage.

If you want the name of the grower, DM me.

But I'm just trying to move forward and getting healthy, beautiful sampaguitas, which will be the centerpiece of my Filipino inspired front yard at our farmhouse.

Someone great has to be out there!! ❤️❤️❤️

When someone betrays you, don't argue over the wrong question.

The question isn't “Should I be over this by now?”

The question is "What would need to be true for me to feel safe in trusting again?“

Trust isn't promises, pressure, or the betrayer being tired of consequences.

In my July class on Betrayal and Trust Reconstruction, we’re getting specific about what breaks trust, what makes it worse, what has to change, and how to tell the difference between pretty words and real action.

More details to come to sign up for the class.

Judgment free zone over here. I've heard a lot of things.

When you're taking a self development class on a sensitive topic, do you want community? Or does community even matter?

You helped me decide to offer three classes in July:
1) Betrayal & Trust Reconstruction
2) Boundaries & Emotional Independence
3) Conflict Patterns When Communicating

At least 6 people will be in each class, but no more than 20 people.

All of you stated that you wanted 8 weekly classes, 90 minutes each class, and, in each class, there's a lesson, practice, homework, and an overall individual project.

NOW... I need to know how much community you want for each class. Or does community matter at all to you?

Let me know in the comments or DM me.

The news doesn't get to take over your whole life and ruin your day.

Before you read more news or listen to more commentators, ask yourself:

Is this news critical to me living my life and having a good day today?

If yes, read from reliable sources (I use an information ladder approach) and decide what to do next.

If no, stop checking.

Get dressed. Eat. Go to work or school. Clean your refrigerator. Finish the thing you were doing.

Multiple things can be true and happen at the same time. You can care about the world, still live your life, and be okay.

You might be giving yourself credit only when change looks obvious or something big happened.

That's a tough standard to meet during tough times.

Instead, ask yourself:

Can I make one choice today that makes life right now NOT get worse?

Not perfect.
Not impressive.
Not obvious or life changing.

Just NOT worse.

This counts, especially if you're trying to change a pattern in which you'd normally react, disappear, overexplain, overdo, shut down, or throw away the whole day because one part went badly.

Small choices, small efforts, and small steps are important, because they change what happens next.

A scary headline will steal your whole day if you let it.

Focus only on reputable sources, such as the CDC, WHO, AP, Reuters, your state health department, and the American Medical Association.

Focus on what you're supposed to do differently right now

Stay calm and be practical.

A boundary is more than just saying no. Before communicating your boundary, first ask yourself what you're willing to do and what you're NOT willing. Then, ask yourself:

* What will I do if they ask again?
* What will I do if they’re disappointed?
* What will I do if they call me selfish or insult me?
* What will I do if I feel guilty?

I'll be talking about this and more during my late-summer class on boundaries emotional independence.
