The new Wise County EMS station in Alvord, Station 5, will begin operations June 1.
The two-bay station can house a full-time ambulance unit and a reserve unit as well as living quarters, an office, meeting space and room for future expansion.
The City of Alvord donated the land for the station. It is located at U.S. 81/287 and Farm Road 1655, near the Alvord water tower.
Beginning this Monday, June 1, Wise County EMS & Rescue will officially place full-time ambulance service into operation at the new EMS Station 5 in Alvord.
This facility represents another major step forward in our commitment to building a stronger, more responsive emergency services system for the citizens of Wise County.
By strategically positioning EMS resources in the northern portion of the county, Station 5 will significantly improve response capabilities for residents in this area while also reducing call-volume pressure on ambulances stationed in communities farther south. The result is greater coverage, increased capacity, and a more resilient countywide EMS system.
This project reflects the kind of forward-thinking investments that ensure Wise County is prepared not only for today’s needs, but for tomorrow’s growth. As our county continues to expand, we remain committed to making strategic infrastructure and public safety investments that keep pace with that growth and maintain the high level of service our citizens expect and deserve.
A special thank you to Alvord Mayor Caleb Caviness and the City of Alvord City Council for the generous donation of the land that helped make this project possible and accelerated delivery of this much-needed facility.
I am also grateful to Cannon Drafting of Bridgeport for the building design and FX5 Construction of Decatur for bringing that vision to life.
Thank you to EMS Administrator Randall Preuninger and Facilities Manager Jimmy Counts, whose hard work and dedication were instrumental in moving this project from concept to reality.
This project is also a testament to the commitment of the Wise County Commissioners Court, whose support for this vision helped make Station 5 a reality. Expanding emergency service capacity requires long-term planning, responsible investment, and a shared commitment to public safety. I am grateful to my fellow members of the Court for recognizing the importance of this project and supporting the resources necessary to bring it to fruition.
Wise County is growing, Wise County is preparing, and Wise County is continuing to invest in the people, infrastructure, and public safety resources that will serve our communities for decades to come.
