We probably got in over our heads this year but the food plots turned out great! 3 years ago, we started turning this property into a place deer would want to live all year round. We have done TSI work, planted fruit trees, switchgrass, soybeans, turnips, radishes, sugar beets, and clover.
The work never ends and we will be busy next year, but to see the transformation in the last few years is amazing. We have tried some new things with the plots this season, while trying to rotate crops as much as possible. Our blinds are set, we have some stands hung and now it’s the best time of the year. After months of hard work, it’s almost time to enjoy what we do it for.
At the end of the day, it feels good to give back more than we take. The wildlife is flourishing and that is the part that makes it so fulfilling. One month to wait!
