On Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 at approximately 8:14 AM, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious vehicle near the Turkey River Mounds State Preserve off Estes Point Road in rural Guttenberg, IA. Clayton County deputies arrived on scene and located a silver 2004 Oldsmobile Alero unoccupied. It was determined a short time later that the registered owner of the vehicle had been reported missing in Waterloo, IA.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and Waterloo Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Neven Soknic, a 41-year-old male, who was last seen on July 7th, 2025 at approximately 5:00 PM near the Turkey River Mound State Preserve on Estes Point Road in rural Guttenberg, IA.

Height: 220
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Distinguishing Features: facial hair
Emergency crews, including the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Guttenberg Police Department, and Guttenberg Fire Department have conducted a search of the immediate area, supported by drone surveillance covering difficult-to-access terrain. Despite these efforts, there has been no confirmed sighting of Neven.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office urges residents in the area of Turkey River Mound State Preserve to check their properties, including outbuildings and surveillance footage, for any potential clues or sightings.
