Yesterday, we hopped on a plane headed north and kicked off "Dad's Big Adventure"!! This was Dad's first flight in almost 30 years (he even got wings lol) and his first vacation in nearly as long. Looking forward to spending time with the kids, grandkids, and exploring Northern Idaho and Canada...including Dad's namesake mountain, Mount Robson!! Cheers to the start of new adventures together!!

While we were in South Dakota, we stayed at America's Mailbox RV Park. It's not fancy, but it's level, clean, full hook-ups, affordable, and close to everything we wanted to explore (Wind Cave National Park and Badlands National Park are both within an hour). It's just outside of Rapid City, which is a beautiful city with plenty of Geocaching. We stumbled on the Fire House Winery on Main St which had DELICIOUS wood fired Pizza and fantastic w**es!! The vibe was amazing and the staff was incredible!! Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Last week, after two years of consideration, we decided to join Harvest Hosts. We have several other RV/Camping memberships, but we tend to cover a lot of ground when we are traveling and don't usually stay put for too long. We decided to give it a try for the in between/overnight stops in places our other memberships don't cover.

Our first stay was at Deer Park Golf Course in Deer Park, Montana. We were able to book the same day of our stay and the hosts at the golf course were awesome. It's about 10-15 minutes off the main road and a mile or two of that is dirt/gravel road (a little washboard-ish but not bad). Parking is in a large grass, mostly level field. There are no hook-ups, but it was peaceful and felt safe. It was easy to find and directions on the app described exactly what to expect. We pulled in, picked our spot, and headed into the clubhouse for snacks and drinks (they have a bar and bar snacks). Took our w**e and snacks out to the patio and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. If you golf (we don't), it would be a lovely course to play on, and everyone was extremely friendly.

The host gave us a flyer with some local sites and food places that included a discount. We decided to try K&M and had an incredible breakfast!! Way more than we could eat...but it was all delicious!! Definitely recommend a stop if you are in the area!!

There were also plenty of geocaches in the area and several were RV friendly stops!!

For our first experience, it went super smoothly and made us excited to try some other HH locations.

Even though one of us is terrified of small, underground spaces...it was still an awesome experience!! Always trying to choose adventure over fear!!

While visiting Monroe, WA, Josh took me over to King Lake Cellars for Mother's Day. A beautiful drive through the forest led to the most gorgeous little w**ery nestled into the hills. The staff was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable and it was by far one of the best tasting experiences I have had!! Their sweet little sheepdog (who has a cameo on the w**e bottle) even came out to greet us upon our arrival. They are a small w**ery and not open to the public everyday...so definitely call to check or make arrangements before you head that way...but I definitely recommend a trip if you are in the area!! **e **etasting

Both our bathroom sink and the sink in the outdoor kitchen started leaking...enough that it was a problem. We did some research and replaced the faucet cartridges. It took about 5 mins for each one. Here is a condensed view!! Will add our Amazon affiliate link for the part in the comments.

After returning from our cruise, we spent some more time in Monroe, Washington at Thousand Trails Thunderbird. It was a great "homebase" to explore the surrounding areas. The spots are mostly level though the park is built on hilly terrain. They have a couple of different sides of the park (one where the club house barn is, and one across the street alongside the river. They had small cottages and even two yurts. The laundry room is nice and open...and very clean. Though we don't really use them, the bathrooms (which are older) still seemed decently maintained and clean. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!! I will post some more of the local attractions we enjoyed!!
