Thank you to the members of Local 1236, who saw the creation of this truck from blueprint to its arrival. The community is invited to help celebrate the opening of the City of DeKalb’s fourth fire station!

A grand opening will be held Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fire Station Four at 1130 S. Malta Rd., near the Schnucks shopping center. Remarks will be made at 10:30 a.m. Tours of the facility will be available after the ceremony.

The DeKalb City Council approved construction of the fourth fire station in July 2023 to improve emergency response times in the City’s southwest quadrant. A groundbreaking was held in May 2024, and the station went into operation on April 11.

Tonight, DeKalb Fire Fighters Local 1236 voted unanimously to approve Noah Millard to President Emeritus. Thank you Noah for all the years of leadership that you have brought to the membership. We appreciate the dedication and time that you gave throughout the years. The relationships that you built with local leaders and organizations within the community will benefit Local 1236 for years!

A historic day for our members and the DeKalb Fire Department! Station 4 is now operational!!! The new station along with our increase in staffing will help to improve response times and provide the best possible services to the residents and visitors of DeKalb.

The Ellwood House was one of our very first AED grant partners and today we did refresher training with their staff discussing hands only CPR and AED use. Being comfortable with this equipment and its use is one of the main objectives of this program.

We will be onboarding our 17th AED in the upcoming weeks with a partnership with Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association.
