PRESS RELEASE: DWI CRASH LEADS TO ARREST ON ARTEAGA STREET
On December 4, 2025, at approximately 5:05 a.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 500 block of Arteaga Street. Officers arrived to find a Chevrolet Silverado with extensive damage and no occupants inside. The driver and passenger were later located in the 400 block of Arteaga Street, where Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were requested.
During contact with the driver, officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. She exhibited clear signs of intoxication and became irate, attempting to assault an officer. The driver resisted arrest and was subdued with the use of a department-issued taser. A search of the driver revealed the keys to the crashed vehicle inside her pocket.
After receiving a medical evaluation, she was transported to the police station for booking. A breath specimen confirmed a blood alcohol concentration above 0.15. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Aubrey Leann Huerta, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated BAC ≥ 0.15, Intoxication Assault with Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport.
The Del Rio Police Department reminds the community that impaired driving endangers everyone on the roadway and will be met with firm enforcement to safeguard public safety.
