Hey Western Mass - mild weekend ahead but plan for evening showers Saturday.
Saturday will be mostly dry through the afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds, but rain moves in after 4-5 PM (most spots 0.25"-0.5"). Higher elevations north of Route 2 could see a brief wintry mix before changing to rain
Sunday will be blustery and cooler with highs in the low 40s (30s in the hills) and gusts up to 30 mph. Monday turns colder with wind chills in the teens/20s, then it warms back up midweek.

🌡️ PUT AWAY THE WINTER PARKAS! 🌡️

A dramatic warm-up is heading our way Friday through Sunday! The First Alert Weather team is tracking temperatures surging into the upper 40s and even potentially low 50s — way above normal for early January.

Here's what to expect:

Thursday: Quiet and pleasant with highs in the low-mid 40s. Perfect for getting outside!

Friday-Sunday: The big warm-up arrives! But here's the catch — rain will move in late Friday and stick around through Sunday. We're tracking two separate rain systems with a brief break early Saturday.

Monday: A cold front sweeps through, bringing temperatures back down to the mid-upper 30s and drier conditions.

A cold weekend ahead with a minor system moving through Saturday night bringing some light snow into early Sunday morning. Some minor accumulations expected, but nothing significant. Otherwise it’s dry and cold with some sunshine.

If you’re looking to wash some of the salt off of your car, Saturday isn’t a bad day to hit the car wash as it will be dry. Roads may be wet and salty again on Sunday with some light snow early. Monday looks dry as well, but cold! 🚗

Milder temperatures are on the way next week and into mid-January as we will see a bit of a thaw with above average high temperatures into the lower 40’s possible and some chances for rain showers. This break looks to be a welcome reprieve from the persistent cold as of late.

Tonight is the Full Wolf Moon and it’s also a Supermoon, which means it has a slightly closer approach to Earth and can appear 30% brighter and 14% larger than the most distant full moon of the year. It peaks early Saturday morning and will be visible all night long, sky conditions permitting!
