Some October chill arrives mid-week and I think some frost is on the table for the region, especially Thursday morning. It is brief though as things warm back up into next weekend and through early October.

It was an active severe weather day across Western Mass with several tornado warnings and wind damage. There was even a radar confirmed tornado in Worcester county, which will have to be confirmed by a NWS storm survey. 🌪️

A tornado with a debris signature was “radar confrimed” through our affiliate stations in Boston as well as the National Weather Service.

Still watching Tropical Storm Erin in the Atlantic. I started talking about this on Sunday! Still plenty of time to watch this…stay tuned.

Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the far eastern Atlantic. Erin is currently forecast to become a major hurricane this weekend as it continues its trek west across the central Atlantic. Plenty of time to watch this and too soon to say if we will see any impacts locally. We are talking the middle of next week before it even gets close if it doesn’t recurve out to sea. Stay tuned!

No more 8 PM or later sunsets until next May here in western Mass! The days continue to get shorter in the morning and the evening and it happens rather quickly in August. Enjoy the last of summer over the next few weeks!

We will add to our number of 90° days at Westover starting this afternoon. Another well above average year as July saw 13 and a few heat waves. We have the fourth heat wave of the season on the way this week. Stay cool!

Our several day heat wave looks to begin today so it will be a great day to cool off at the pool or the lake! Temperatures in the lower 90’s with humidity levels still remaining manageable into the afternoon.
