The 2025 county volunteer fireman’s association dress parade hosted by the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company! The parade stepped off at 1pm to avoid the potentially bad weather that was predicted. The rain started just for a quick minute before the parade stepped off! Units march rain or shine! The ended under clearing skies and sunshine! Despite the rain, the show would go on as parade goers lined the streets of Greeneville to cheer on the members of their department! Following the parade, participants and families were invited back to the Greeneville Town park for food and beverages and entertainment while they waited the awards presentation! The presentation of awards started promptly at 6pm with the announcement that the Ashland Fire Department Greene County NY 12407 would be hosting the 138th annual Greene County firefighters association parade in 2026! Thank you to the members of the Greeneville FD along with the GCVFA for their hospitality!

The 2024 Greene County Volunteer firefighters Association hosted its annual meetings and convention hosted by the Round Top Volunteer Fire Company. The festivities including the Men's and women's dinners, followed by the annual Mardi - Gras Parade on Friday evening 9/6, then the annual dress parade at 2pm on Saturday 9-7. This was the first year Round Top VFC hosted the Greene County Convention. It started off as a great day until Mother Nature opened up and rained on everyone's parade. (Pun intended). Despite the weather the parade went on, marching through the Village of Cairo to the Park.

On this day... 24 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001.
In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

This week's post takes a look back three years ago to the Ravena Hose/fire Company and friendship festival's 125 year anniversary.

On August 27th, 2022 the Ravena Fire Hose Company celebrated 125 years of service to the community of Ravena, Coeymans and other areas of Albany County, NY. In addition, the Village of Ravena was hosting the annual friendship festival. The friendship festival is the villages local fair/carnival; there were venders and activities for the families/community to do. During this time the fire department and friendship festival hosted a duel celebration because the festival was also 125 years old! Local policitions stopped by the friendship festival to present the members of Ravena Hose Company (fire department) with awards of service to the community along with proclamations marking the occasion that the department has been serving the community for 125 years!

Now, three years later in 2025, both the fire company and friendship festival celebrate 128 years of working together in the village. This year the fire company hosted the annual parade. This year's theme was Mardi - gras as the fire department and other entities lined the streets and finished at Mosher Park in Coeymans, NY on Saturday August 23! Congratulations to the Ravena Hose/fire company on 125 now 128 years of Service.. Che
