Rock Steady Boxing members from both the Hillsborough and Mercer affiliates showed their ‘strength, courage and determination’ as they traversed the indoor rock-climbing course at Iron Peak Sports and Events in honor of Parkinson’s Awareness Month on April 22.

The showcase of "strength, courage and determination" of Rock Steady Boxing members was on full display at Iron Peak Sports and Events as they traversed the indoor rock-climbing course in honor of Parkinson's Awareness Month.

The gathering on April 22 brought together individuals living with Parkinson's, along with their families, coaches, and volunteers from both the Hillsborough and Mercer Rock Steady Boxing affiliates, to highlight how intensive exercise - including activities like boxing and rock climbing - is helping slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.

The New Jersey AI Hub has been officially opened as a regional place for artificial intelligence (AI) startups to emerge and the advancement of AI innovation research.

Representatives of the hub's founding partners - Princeton University, the state, Microsoft, and CoreWeave - gathered together to cut the ribbon on the new hub located in university space within West Windsor Township on March 27.

In December 2023, state officials and the university announced a partnership to create and develop an artificial intelligence hub in Central Jersey for the advancement and exploration of AI.

The new regional hub not only includes companies, industry leaders and startups, but other New Jersey education institutions such as Rutgers University and community colleges to further drive collaboration and research.

"Today we are here to celebrate the manifestation of that vision as it comes to life," Princeton University President Christopher Eisgruber said.

Two Hillsborough Township police officers have been chosen for the 2024 Top Cop Award - Officers Justin Tesorio and Vail Nazaryk.

The Hillsborough Township Police Department continues its program aimed at recognizing the performance of its top-rated officers. Two officers (one from each of the department's two patrol squads) are selected to receive the Top Cop recognition for the previous year. The award recipients are determined based on a score obtained from their Annual Job Performance Evaluations, along with a ranking achieved by their respective supervisors and peers, according to a press release through the township.

As a result of their hard work, an acknowledgment of the award is placed in the officers' permanent Personnel File and a special award bar is presented to each officer to be worn above his uniform badge.

Schools Superintendent Mike Volpe delivered a tentative 2025-26 budget that he's "not proud of."

"We still have factors working against us from the state formula to the 2 percent cap," he said at the Hillsborough Board of Education meeting on March 17.

A public hearing and final adoption of the $153.93 million spending plan is scheduled for April 28.

School taxes are one item on a property owner’s total tax bill, which also includes municipal taxes and county taxes.

The school budget process is a process that begins in October of every year. Up until the public hearing, school officials will continue to seek feedback from residents.

"We want to be clear, open, honest, and transparent," Volpe said.
