The New Jersey AI Hub has been officially opened as a regional place for artificial intelligence (AI) startups to emerge and the advancement of AI innovation research.

The new regional hub not only includes companies, industry leaders and startups, but other New Jersey education institutions such as Rutgers University and community colleges to further drive collaboration and research.

"Today we are here to celebrate the manifestation of that vision as it comes to life," Princeton University President Christopher Eisgruber said.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service will conduct a prescribed burn on the large field owned by D&R Greenway along Hopewell-Wertsville Road in Hopewell scheduled for March 10.

D&R Greenway Land Trust will be working with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service to conduct a prescribed burn on a field of the Betty Wold Johnson Hillside Farm Preserve. This land management technique is often used by conservation organizations throughout New Jersey to manage problematic invasive plant species, encourage native plant growth, reduce fire fuel load, reduce thatch from years of mowing. We look forward to planting a wildflower meadow in the future.

Prescribed burn is a controlled application of fire by a team of experts to enhance desired plant communities and wildlife habitat and to reduce the risk of future wildfires. Every year, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service conducts prescribed burns while protecting life, property, and the state's natural resources.

The woman then received a phone call from someone who purported to be a Hopewell Township police officer from the "fraud department," police said. The caller stated they were on their way to her location to help.

The woman became concerned and left. No money was lost in the incident.

The Cranbury Inn was once a stop on the Underground Railroad that took enslaved people to freedom.

The Cranbury Inn sits on Main Street in the historic village of Cranbury.

It does not look like a train station - there are no railroad tracks in front of the white, two-story building - but it was a stop on the Underground Railroad that took enslaved people to freedom.

Historian Rick Geffken outlined the history of slavery in the American colonies and the steps that enslaved people took to flee the "peculiar institution" - as it was known in the South - from the 1680s until they were freed after the Civil War in 1865.

The Dutch introduced slavery into New Jersey and New York for economic reasons, said Geffken, who spoke at the Lawrence Historical Society's annual meeting Feb. 23. He delivered the annual Ruth Barringer Lecture at the session.

The Dutch West India Company, which was chartered in 1621, initially steered away from slavery.
