As we come to the end of 2025 and look forward to the new year, here’s a look back at Medford top stories.

Dr. James Still was referred to as the Black doctor of the Pines.

He was a self-taught physician who diagnosed and treated patients at his office in Medford, where he developed and dispensed herbal and holistic remedies. The completion of a nearly $1.75 million, multi-year stabilization and restoration project will let visitors experience Still’s office much as it appeared in 1855.

“The restoration of the Dr. James Still Office Historic Site reflects our commitment to preserving New Jersey’s diverse history while making it accessible to all,” said John Cecil, assistant commissioner for State Parks, Forests and Historic Sites.

Leading up to the Christmas holiday, the Medford Township Police Department released 12 Days of Holiday Safety Tips on its page.

On the first day of safety, police remind residents to lock it up.

- Keep valuables away from windows and out of sight. Keep valuables in residence hidden with curtains or blinds.

- Lock doors and windows to both residence and vehicle.

- Light up home if out and about, and/or at home.

- Consider purchasing a security camera, doorbell camera or an alarm system.

- Bring mail and packages in daily. If traveling ask for a vacation hold.

On the second day of safety, police remind residents to watch out for package thieves. Use secure drop-off options, bring packages inside quickly, and report suspicious activity.

On the third day of safety, police remind residents to light it up right. Remember use indoor/outdoor-rated lights and use extension cords properly.
