Harrison Township School District Board of Education held its latest meeting on August 18. The main topic of discussion was a $56 million facilities referendum and its bond proposal to be placed on the ballot for the upcoming November 3 election.

The board’s vote on how the proposal will be worded and placed on the fall ballot ended in a tie, as one board member was absent and left the board with only eight voting members.

Because of the board’s decision, the referendum will not be part of this fall’s election. It will likely be pushed to the fall 2027 election or a special election.

There’s still one more chance to get to the Main Street Market.

Downtown Mullica Hill’s Main Street Market runs June through September on the second Saturday of the month. Between 10 a.m and 3 p.m., local vendors, farmers and businesses set up on Main Street – primarily in the parking lot of Mullica Hill Baptist Church – and offer seasonal goods.

Check out the second installment of Community Corner, our biweekly feature celebrating the clubs, organizations and community groups that make our communities special.

This week, we’re featuring the ReWild Society, a social wellness group founded by siblings Tina, Chris and Kevin Davis that focuses on improving the mind, body and soul through natural wellness and human connection 🌿💛

Every Saturday morning, the ReWild Society hosts a free, phone-free walk around Cooper River Park, bringing together people of all ages and fitness levels for movement, conversation and connection. What started with just eight walkers in May has grown to a welcoming community of 30 to 40 people each week.

Whether you're looking to meet new people, prioritize your well-being or simply get out of the house and break out of a rut, the ReWild Society offers a free, low-pressure space to take a step forward — together🚶‍♀️🌳🚶

Monmouth County author and historian Rick Geffken recently stopped by the Mullica Hill Branch of the Gloucester County Library System to give a lecture on a piece of New Jersey’s Revolutionary War history.

The event was part of a New Jersey State Library’s REV 250: Examining the Semiquincentennial through a Jersey Lens program. This grant opportunity has helped public libraries across the state participate in programming that celebrates the nation's 250th birthday and the state’s contributions to it.

The lecture on the evening of August 13 outlined the story found in Geffken’s latest non-fiction book “New Jersey's Revolutionary Rivalry: The Untold Story of Colonel Tye & Captain Huddy,” which was released in November 2025. It brought a full crowd to the meeting room.

After a 28-year-long career with Harrison Township Police Department (HTPD), Chief Ronald Cundey has retired.

Cundey, who took on the role of Chief of Police in January 2021, retires on August 31. David Marro, the department’s most recent captain, took on the role of chief the following day.
