Saturday mornings out of bed before the alarm dares speak, the house still asleep, coffee pot included, and pulls on yesterday’s leggings (laundry can wait). Shoes that have outlasted most marriages carry her into the crisp dark, where the air nips just enough to say good morning. She marches down the driveway, arms pumping like she’s late for happiness, picks up speed on the main road while the neighborhood cat offers its slow-blink salute—she nods back, old friends. Quick shower, strong coffee, the white golf skirt that’s defied forty years of dessert, visor snapped on, ponytail threaded through like it’s still 1948. Clubs rattle into the trunk, Sinatra croons from the speakers, and she backs out grinning. At the club, the ladies from the league are waiting to play golf. Let's get the party started, and off we go!

An All-American athlete with a passion for basketball, Jerilyn Britz carried her competitive drive onto the golf course. She joined the LPGA Tour in 1974 and captured her first victory at the 1979 U.S. Women’s Open, tying the event’s lowest aggregate score at the time. Her second win came at the 1980 Mary Kay Classic, and she went on to compete on Tour until 1999. A true legend—both on and off the course!
