From The Grave Podcast Spiritual Grit for rebuilding your life

You know what I think?

I think you should stop taking direction from people who have never been to the places you want to go.

Most people are handing out opinions, not wisdom.

They’re telling you what’s possible based on their fears, their limitations, and the risks they weren’t willing to take.

Be careful who gets a vote in your life.

Take advice from people who’ve walked the road. People who’ve built something. People who’ve failed, learned, and kept going.

Not everyone deserves access to the steering wheel of your future.

Sometimes the next level of your life requires getting quieter around the noise and louder around your own knowing.

If you’re gonna overthink, overthink this:

What if it works out?

What if the thing you’re worried about becomes the thing that changes your life for the better?

What if the conversation goes well, the opportunity shows up, the door opens, and you handle it just fine?

Most of us spend our lives rehearsing disasters that never happen.

Try rehearsing the miracle for once.

Life gets a whole lot simpler when you stop assuming the worst and start noticing how often things work themselves out.

Trust a little more. Breathe a little deeper.

The universe, God, life—whatever you want to call it—has a funny way of meeting you halfway.

The older I get, the less I think life is something to be conquered.

There’s a way of living where you’re forcing everything. Kicking doors down. Trying to figure out every outcome before you take a step.

And then there’s another way.

You take the next step and the door opens when your hand touches the handle.

The right conversation happens.

The right person shows up.

The thing you’ve been chasing somehow finds its way to you.

Not every time. Not magically. But often enough that you start paying attention.

I’ve noticed that the more I let go of trying to control every damn thing, the more life seems willing to meet me halfway.

Thoreau said that when a man advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, he begins to meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

I think that’s another way of saying you begin to answer to a secret order of things.

And once you’ve tasted that, it’s hard to go back to forcing life.

Less control.

More trust.

Less resistance.

More participation.

Just show up and let life live through you.

Three years ago I thought addiction was a race to relief.

I still believe that.

But watching this clip back, I see something deeper now.

The relief wasn’t the addiction. The relief exposed the addiction.

It showed me how long I’d been holding my breath.

How much of my life was spent trying to outrun discomfort, fear, shame, guilt, uncertainty… myself.

The drug wasn’t the answer. It was the first thing that revealed the question.

Looking back at old videos is weird. Sometimes you realize you were wrong. Sometimes you realize you were right, but you hadn’t gone deep enough yet.

July, 3 years ago.

Still learning. Still peeling back layers. Still trying to tell the truth.

You’ve been taught that ego looks like arrogance.

Like confidence gone too far.
Like the loud guy in the room who thinks he’s above everyone.

But that’s only half the truth.

Ego also shows up as:
– “I’m not good enough”
– “I’m a piece of sh*t”
– “Nothing will ever change”

Both are the same distortion.

Both are exaggerated identities.

Both isolate you.

In this episode, I break down:
– The two extremes of ego
– Why victimhood is still egocentric
– How ego keeps you disconnected from people
– And what it actually means to live as part of life, not apart from it

Because ego doesn’t just inflate you…

It can collapse you too.

A lot of people get sober hoping they’ll finally feel good all the time.

That was never the promise.

For some of us, recovery starts when the pain of staying the same becomes unbearable. When peace matters more than pleasure. When silence matters more than euphoria.

The addict mind says:“I want relief now.”“I want happiness now.”“I want certainty now.”

And if we’re not careful, we bring that same demand into recovery.

But eventually you realize…this isn’t about chasing happiness. It’s about learning how to live. How to breathe again. How to stop fighting reality. How to cooperate with grace instead of trying to control everything through self-will.

Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t trying harder.

It’s surrender.

Surrender is a son b***h. Most ppl have zero@awareness as to what exactly they are fighting. •

“The worst I fought and tried to have my own way, the worst matters got” iykyk

I think a lot of people are secretly terrified of “God’s will” because they’ve unconsciously imagined a God that is waiting to punish them for making the wrong move.

Like one wrong decision and suddenly you’re exiled from the path.

But what if God’s will isn’t a tightrope?
What if it’s a relationship?
A discovery.
A deepening.

Maybe it’s less about obsessing over the “perfect choice” and more about becoming the kind of person who can hear their own spirit clearly.

The next right action.
The honest conversation.
The uncomfortable truth.
The thing you know you should do but keep avoiding.

That voice has always been there.

Most of us just learned how to drown it out with fear, comfort, addiction, distraction, people pleasing, ego, or overthinking.

The path unfolds through movement.
Not paralysis.

Sometimes you discover the will of God by acting, failing, learning, adjusting, and continuing forward anyway.

Not perfectly.
But honestly.
