The SERPENTS RISE… Again!! After more than 6 years of live dormancy, SERPENTS RISE will once more take to the stage in direct support of BLOODTIED and their first full-length debut. Bolstered by talismanic batteryman Derek Roddy behind the kit, SERPENTS RISE offer a sound both technical and palatable - with plenty of hooks to keep old school fans happy as their screaming guitars weave spellbinding passages that keep the experimentors among us content. As the penultimate band on our Dec 19th soiree, the sensei’s will pass the baton from SERPENTS RISE to BLOODTIED as a new generation is given life through the tutelage of these great masters. On December 19th, we are eternally grateful to the Broward County trio for uncoiling a slate of historic Death Metal madness! JOIN US

In just under a year, FAILED STATE have risen to prominence in both our backyard and the burgeoning Tallahassee scenes. Native to South Florida, the quartet reunited as friends and crafted the project at FSU, blending elements of Beatdown, Crust Punk, and a surprisingly Death Metal-focused vocal delivery that pushes Hardcore to the edges of its classification. With Dec 19. serving as the first Classic Steel show at the American Legion, you know we needed a Hardcore band to round out this Death Metal focused lineup. FAILED STATE have arrived to pull the Punks from the fringes and cement themselves as a name to follow from our Friday night and in the years to come! In short order, DARK RITUAL have made themselves known across the state and beyond - blending a vibrant
selection of influences from Candlemass to Testament, Doom to Thrash and in between. Vocalist Stefano Gugliotta leads the charge with an electric delivery, soaring clean vocals matched by aggressive cuts that lead the band into faster, thrashier passages sure to delight the Extreme Metal-forward South Florida audience. Guitars led by scene veteran Matthew Lindner complete the treble registry, undergirded by bassist Evil Evie and drummer Lucas Moore, whose on-stage chemistry through several bands has us forgetting how young and promising their nascent careers have been, and how much they’ve already achieved. DARK RITUAL are a band who give something to every listener, without doing too much - a seamless conjunction of searing speed and towering interludes, of young and… not so young 😅, of Melodic & Extreme. JOIN US at the American Legion on Dec 19. as DARK RITUAL weave their spellbinding sound through all of us and beyond, a ritual to remember!

LIVE REPORT! 📍 11/12 WPB
The bad boys went out on a weekday to experience a chilly Hump Day extravaganza!
The night began with VOMIT FORTH - who to their everlasting credit, got the crowd moving early and often, with crunchy breakdowns and a thrumming low end to bring everyone out of work mode and into the evening - great young talents with a bright future ahead!

INFERI were next, a band I’ve heard of for years but never got around to listening. After seeing vocalist Stevie Boisier with Vale of Pnath more than a decade ago in Tampa, it’s amazing to see his magnetic presence and vocal talent shine through INFERI - with a tremendous twin guitar attack and relentlessly heavy drums, a Tech-Death favorite carrying the genre into tomorrow!

JUDICIARY were the only band I hadn’t heard of before the night, and may have done the most - blending Metal and Hardcore in a way that was ceaselessly catchy, offering slab after slab of rift, groovy, magic to satisfy every pair of ears in the blended audience that was. Don’t sleep on JUDICIARY!

Lastly, as expected: REVOCATION were and have been a phenomenal live act. Dave Davidson? More like RAVE RAVIDSON, because his string work was plucked to perfection - with a new album and that classy creamsicle guitar, the headwinds are mighty for a once ascendant, now cemented quartet of superb musicians.

SKELETAL REMAINS - a once ascendant, now world-renowned household name in modern DEATH METAL will make landfall following their seaborne assault on the 70K audience, giving us two exclusive dates in Tampa and Melbourne! Flanked by Tampa’s finest in VIRULENCE and the first FL shows for Chicago’s MORBIDITY, both coasts will receive an end-to-end Death Metal extravaganza! AND how could we forget LAW OF CAUSALITY & G’ville’s GRAVE FILTH to round out Tampa, with Ocala’s THE BURIAL GROUND & Melbourne’s very own MIND VIRUS carrying our banner’s east! This will be a hootenanny to remember. Come one come all and GET SOME 🥰💅

LIVE REPORT! 10/24/25 🇺🇸 American Legion, Post 92
A tremendous evening of Death Metal across several styles was enjoyed at the American Legion - a place that we’ve quickly grown fond of - enjoying affordable vodka’s in support of the cause.

FRAGMENTATION opened the affair with a heavy hitting, slammy style of Death Metal that would satisfy a myriad of tastes, with rhythmic passages abruptly transiting to harmonic, dissonant interludes, reminiscent of Immolation and other greats, a very fitting opener to kick off what was left to come!

TRUST NO ONE, the most recent headliner on a Classic Steel show, left the lights on and nothing to the imagination as their pummeling, punchy, sound backed a vintage performance by frontman, Coach. With each set, Vlad Garcia elevates the pulse of the band, with his fills adding the perfect flourish to TNO’s signature sound.

HACKSAW - this is a band we’ve been dying to see. Sharing members of Bloodtied and fronted by Colin Keough, a man who LITERALLY has ‘OUGH’ in his name, we expected a searing live performance to match their latest output, “The Way, The Truth, The Light.” There is so much to come from this incredible quartet. The new guard is in good hands!

ISOTROPY are a force to be reckoned. With Derek Roddy on the kit, and back lining the entire show (thank you), the entire night experienced the best drum sound yet heard at the Legion. Beyond Roddy’s still S-tier percussion, the band plays a style of Technical Death Metal that would satisfy the most mathematical among us, yet never get too cute to be heavy.

Lastly, DRIPPING - featuring paisan Sebastian Russo, also of the 🇮🇹 diaspora, brought their one-of-a-kind sound to the Legion, with equal parts Tech and Slam piecing a performance that is both seismic and intergalactic at once. A rare frontage by bespectacled rockstar, Alvar Antillon put the final cherry on top. A truly magnificent eve in support of the veterans!

LIVE REPORT! 10/10 📍 Las Rosas
What a phenomenal Friday (was it Friday?) at Las Rosas
A rare opportunity to witness COMMUNION from Chile, alongside War Metal beasts Abysmal Lord and ascendant local Black Metal act, Undercrypt.

Undercrypt began the proceedings with a style of synth-tinged riffy Black Metal that crossed the Atlantic in the early 90s and never left our hearts. Building off EP release “Called to the Crypt,” bonus points for the bespectacled bass man busting out the CLAYMORE mid set and LARPing the frick out of us.

Abysmal Lord, comprised of local hero Rick Smith who organized this festive Friday, never fail to delight. The trio sharing two members with Caveman Cult is one of the most photogenic bands in the world, with Grant Tom in particular shining on screen as much as on the strings.

Lastly, COMMUNION, a Chilean Black Metal act took the stage and blew us all away. You know sh*t’s about to get real when the drummer walks on stage in sunglasses. While still distinctly fitting in that War Metal category, their breathable passages with a more traditional Black Metal sound made them the perfect capstone to top off the blended slate of extreme Blackened Metal that carried us into a lovely weekend. Wishing a very happy birthday to Vicious Blade drummer Kevin Parent! Kevin was the first touring drummer to play a note on a Classic Steel stage, and will forever be a part of the history we hope to build together in the years to come. If you missed that show last September, be sure to check out for some of the very best Blackened Thrash in the world 🎂
