Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Michelin retread facility tour held at T&W Tire. If you haven’t joined us for a tour you are really missing out, but don’t worry. There will be more.

Thank you to Mark Tiefenthaler and Julie Bailly for all of your hard work and coordination getting this event together.

We as entrepreneurs are to take practices from bigger companies that help them succeed and implement them into our own. Right now, FedEx uses Retread technology on 67% of their fleet while contractors on use 20%.

The savings is staring at us in the face.

Amazon and Walmart are officially battling for rural America.

AP reports Amazon is investing $4 billion to expand same-day and next-day delivery into 4,000 rural and small-town locations, while Walmart is leaning on a huge advantage: 90% of Americans already live within 10 miles of a Walmart.

This isn’t just about packages showing up faster.

This is a signal.

The companies fighting for rural delivery today are fighting for:
• local warehouse positioning
• last-mile dominance
• customer loyalty
• lane control
• data
• and eventually autonomous + AI-assisted logistics networks

For carriers and small fleets, this could create new opportunities around regional loads, middle-mile support, final-mile contracts, and dedicated rural routes.

But rural delivery has always been difficult because fuel, distance, deadhead, detention, and low stop density can destroy margins fast.



The real question:
Who actually makes money doing this at scale?
