Congratulations to Belle Sorelle Bridal Couture on their official ribbon cutting with the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce! ✂️🤍

A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Denham Springs

Parish Palate | Lizzie Baudoin

There’s something special about finding a restaurant that doesn’t just serve good food, but makes you feel something while you’re there. Yesterday afternoon, Mom and I found exactly that at Randazzo’s Italian Market, a cozy Italian spot tucked into what feels more like a family home than a restaurant. From the moment we walked through the door, the atmosphere felt warm, personal, and inviting in a way that instantly put us at ease.

Before our food even arrived, I found myself reading through the restaurant’s history pages at the table, learning more about owner and chef Antonio Randazzo and the story behind the market. Originally from Rome, Italy, Antonio brought not only recipes and flavors with him to Louisiana, but a sense of tradition and hospitality that you can feel throughout the entire restaurant. It’s clear this isn’t just a business to them. It’s personal, that feeling changes the entire dining experience.

Mom ordered the Sofia Sandwich, and it looked just as good as it tasted. Pressed perfectly with layers of salami, fresh toppings, and melted cheese, it had that authentic deli-style quality that’s hard to find locally. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and packed with flavor, it was one of those sandwiches that reminds you simple food can still be incredible when it’s done right.

I ordered the lasagna, and I can confidently say I’ll be thinking about it for a while. Covered in rich marinara and parmesan, every bite tasted homemade in the best possible way. The sauce had that slow-cooked depth to it that instantly feels comforting, layered between perfectly cooked pasta and creamy cheese. It wasn’t overcomplicated or trendy. Just genuinely good Italian food.

Of course, Mom and I shared a few appetizers because neither of us can ever resist trying multiple things off a menu. The Caprese was fresh, light, and beautifully simple with creamy mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and balsamic that tied everything together perfectly. But the smoked salmon bruschetta ended up being the surprise favorite of the table. Served on toasted bread with creamy cheese and smoked salmon, it was fresh, flavorful, and something a little different from what you typically expect at lunch in Denham Springs.

What stood out most throughout the meal, though, was the atmosphere. We got to speak with the owners for a bit during our visit, and it only added to the charm of the experience. There’s a sincerity to Randazzo’s that can’t really be manufactured. Between the family story, the welcoming environment, and the quality of the food, it feels less like stopping somewhere to eat and more like being invited in.

For my first visit to Randazzo’s, I left genuinely impressed. In a world full of rushed lunches and cookie-cutter dining experiences, this little Italian market offers something far more memorable: authenticity, comfort, and a meal that feels made with care.

The Livingston Parish Expo brought a packed crowd to the area on May 12 as businesses, community organizations, and local restaurants filled the room for one of the Parish’s largest networking events of the year. But tucked between the booths, giveaways, and conversations, one area in particular kept drawing a crowd: the Restaurant Challenge.

Hosted as part of the Livingston Parish Expo by the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce, the challenge brought together 13 local restaurants for a friendly but competitive culinary showcase, giving attendees the opportunity to sample dishes from across the Parish while some of Louisiana’s top culinary professionals judged the entries live on stage.

Throughout the evening, guests moved from booth to booth tasting everything from seafood specialties to comfort food favorites while cheering on their favorite local restaurants. The atmosphere felt less like a formal competition and more like a celebration of the Parish’s growing food scene, with restaurant teams proudly serving samples and connecting directly with the community.

The official judging panel was made up of chefs from the Louisiana Culinary Institute, who conducted a blind taste test of each entry before selecting the overall winners.

Taking home the Judge’s Choice Award was Mami’s Mexican, with Geisha earning second place and Off The Hook placing third.

Expo attendees also had the opportunity to cast their own votes throughout the night in the highly competitive People’s Choice category, where online voting remained close until the very end. Geisha secured the People’s Choice title, followed by Off The Hook in second place and Chef Beaux 2 Geaux in third.

Beyond the awards, the Restaurant Challenge showcased just how diverse and creative Livingston Parish’s restaurant community has become. From longtime local staples to newer faces in the industry, each booth brought something different to the table, turning the Expo into a full experience rather than just a business showcase.

The event also served as another reminder of how strongly Livingston Parish supports local businesses. Conversations flowed between restaurant owners, community leaders, and residents throughout the evening, while attendees filled the venue sampling dishes, networking, and celebrating the businesses that continue to shape the Parish.

The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce has already announced that the 2027 Livingston Parish Expo will return on Tuesday, May 11, 2027.

Congratulations to Moore to Love on their official grand opening! 🩷🩵

From the photos and stories alone, you could feel the excitement surrounding this new little diner. The line was full before the doors even opened, and what started as strangers waiting outside quickly turned into a small business bonding moment between familiar local faces from Magnolia Pet Services, Liberty Laundry, The Abbey Salon, and Twisted Therapy. That kind of support is what makes Livingston Parish so special.

At 11 o’clock sharp, Natalie and her staff officially opened the doors, cut the ribbon, and welcomed everyone into what honestly looks like one of the cutest spots in Walker. Retro vibes, bright colors, disco balls, pink everywhere, and a diner atmosphere that already feels full of personality. You can tell this place was built with love and excitement behind it.

A huge thank you to Michelle Shook for attending on behalf of Living In Parish Magazine and making sure we were “there in spirit.” We appreciate you representing us and supporting another local dream from the very beginning. 🩵

We can’t wait to stop by ourselves soon and officially welcome Moore to Love to the parish. Supporting local never goes out of style.

One thing I’ve learned since starting Living in Parish is that there are so many people in this parish quietly building things, supporting people, taking risks, and trying to make their little corner of town better. Wednesday night in Albany was full of those people. 🩵

Huge thank you to Ross Kinchen for putting everything together and to The Kinchen Group, Bankston Law Firm, and Good Deeds Title Co. for hosting us. It was one of those nights where everybody just sat around talking ideas, community, growth, business, events, and life for a few hours and it reminded me why local connections matter so much.

I got to hear more about Oak Court coming to Albany later this year, some really exciting things John Ponder has in the works, and hear advice from Barksdale Leadership Solutions that honestly stuck with me long after I left. Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll was there too, which I thought was really special because you can tell Albany genuinely cares about where the town is headed.

Also… Ches Press Coffee Co. absolutely won me over. The coffee cart was the cutest thing ever and I fear I now require coffee and cookies at all future functions. 😂

I barely took pictures because I spent the whole afternoon talking to people, which honestly probably says more about the night than a photo dump would anyway.

Albany has so much heart to it. You can feel that people over there are proud of their town and excited about what’s coming next, and I’m really grateful Living in Parish got invited into those conversations. 🩵

Please join us in congratulating our very own sales representative, Michelle Hutson, owner of Michelle’s Bail Bonds, on an incredible evening with the Rotary Club of Livingston Parish. 💙💛

Michelle was officially inducted as a new Rotary member, appointed to the board as Event Coordinator, and was also honored with the New Member of the Year award.

From the moment Michelle came into our lives, she has been an absolute blessing. Her heart for people, dedication to this community, and willingness to jump in and help wherever needed is something truly special. Whether she’s supporting local businesses, helping organize events, or simply showing up for others, Michelle brings warmth, energy, and compassion into every room she walks into.

We are so incredibly honored to work alongside her every single day and cannot wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes through Rotary and beyond.

Congratulations, Michelle. Livingston Parish is lucky to have you. ✨

Please join us in congratulating our very own Lizzie Baudoin on officially being inducted into the Rotary Club of Livingston Parish during last night’s Diamond Jubilee celebration, honoring 60 years of service in Livingston Parish. 💙💛

Lizzie was also inducted as Membership Chairperson for the Rotary board and officially became a 4th generation Rotarian, continuing a family legacy of community involvement and service that spans generations right here in Livingston Parish.

Many of you know Lizzie as the face behind Living In Parish Magazine, always running around with a camera in one hand and a coffee in the other, telling the stories of the people and places that make this parish special. What you may not know is how deeply rooted her passion for community service truly is. From Main Street events and local nonprofits to small business advocacy and parish-wide storytelling, she pours her heart into Livingston Parish every single day.

We are incredibly proud of her and excited to see the impact she will continue to make through Rotary and beyond.

Congratulations to all of last night’s award recipients and inductees. What a beautiful celebration of service, leadership, and community.

Better pictures to come soon. 😉

Alright y’all, I’m gonna be real for a second.

Putting out a community magazine at the scale we do is not cheap. Between printing, paper costs, distribution, photography, design, and making sure every single issue feels like something worth keeping on your coffee table instead of tossing in the trash, it takes a village. Literally.

So for our upcoming June/July combined issue of Living In Parish Magazine, we’re asking our community to help us make this one BIG.

This summer issue, “Stars, Stripes & Small Town Life,” is going to celebrate everything we love about Livingston Parish in the summertime. Backyard BBQs, fireworks, local businesses, hometown faces, family traditions, lake days, snowballs, small town memories, and the people that keep this parish alive.

To help local businesses be a part of it, we’re doing something HUGE:

50% OFF our 1/4 page ads
Usually $500, now only $250 for this special issue.

If you’ve ever thought about advertising with us, this is genuinely the time. Whether you own a boutique, restaurant, lawn company, salon, bakery, construction business, real estate company, or even just want your name seen by thousands across Livingston Parish, we would LOVE to have you involved.

Living In Parish Magazine is printed locally, distributed parish-wide, and built by people who truly care about this community. Every ad directly helps us continue telling local stories the right way.

So yes… we need your help making this issue happen. And we’d really love to celebrate summer in Livingston Parish with YOU in it. ❤️🤍💙
