Last week, local nonprofit Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP) held the 11th annual ‘Shape the Cape’ Summit in Hyannis. The day was packed with 30 exhibitors, 24 presentations, and over 350 attendees. We spoke to some presenters and attendees to learn more.

Cape Cod has a new group aiming to tackle mental health challenges among men in a unique way. We spoke with Chris Bitter this week, also known as the Cape Cod Ice Man, about his upcoming event for his new men’s health group: Cape Cod Blue Balls. Inspired by a successful movement that began in Ireland, Chris is hoping to build a community of men supporting men on Cape and beyond, take a look.

Last week, several local activist groups including Indivisible Upper Cape and Cape Cod Women for Change gathered with local Veterans for a protest at the Hyannis Airport Rotary. Around two hundred stood out to voice their opposition to proposed cuts to the VA and other government agencies. Cape and Islands Senator Julian Cyr came out as well to speak with the protesters about their concerns, take a look.

Did you get a chance to “Follow that shell”, Yarmouth? Last week in the Town of Yarmouth Massachusetts , the Massachusetts Oyster Project and the Yarmouth Shellfish Collective transported 7,000 lbs of recycled oyster shells from the Yarmouth Transfer Station to Aquacultural Research Corp Hatchery in Dennis!

For the past three years, Mass Oyster Project has worked with 25 Cape Cod restaurants to collect and recycle oyster shells, which help restore vital oyster habitats. In 2024 alone, 62,000 lbs of shells were collected!
