The Y-D Red Sox had an afternoon of fun over at Ryan Family Amusements in South Yarmouth. The team hosted a Meet the Players event where kids of all ages got autographs and photos withtheir favorite players.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health informed the Town of Barnstable that West Nile virus (WNV) has been detected in a sample of mosquitoes collected from Barnstable, Massachusetts.

WNV is most commonly transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. While WNV can infect people of all ages, people over the age of 50 are at higher risk for severe infection. By taking a few common-sense precautions, people can help to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands will once again be distributing coupons for individuals who are 60 years of age or older and low income (i.e., individuals who qualify for programs such as Food Stamps, Mass Health, fuel assistance) for the purchase of produce at local Farmer’s Markets in Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket Counties beginning on July 14th.

Building Community Through Media

The Cape Cod Community Media Center is the Public-Access Television station for five towns here on Cape Cod. Channel 99 Broadcasts in Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich & Chatham.

Residents or organizations from our five towns can become members of the Media Center to get hands-on training in film and television production, editing, journalism, writing, and social media marketing.
