Bryan Waddle, our founder, was born in McKinney, Texas and lived the first 10 years of his life in Frisco, TX. where he graduated high school. Bryan attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management. After a career in another business, Bryan joined his father in the used construction equipment business in 2000. The equipment business wa

s not exactly new to him as his grandfather, Clyde Waddle, was the first John Deere dealer in Collin County. Upon his death in 1965, his father Pat, became a salesman with a road machinery company in Dallas, Texas. His customer base consisted of asphalt paving, concrete, and other aggregate contractors and covered 15 counties west of Dallas/Fort Worth. As young boy, Bryan spent summers traveling with his father throughout this territory learning to talk to people with these trips becoming his first lessons in sales and marketing. In 1972, his father opened Dentex Ford Tractor where Bryan grew up working from setting up equipment to sweeping the floors and working the parts counter. In high school, needing to get experience outside the family business, Bryan was helper working for Dr. Pepper delivering the beverage to all types of business. When Bryan joined his father's business, he did not have a customer base. Being new to the business and having a family to support, he needed to find a way. So, Bryan recruited his 14-year-old nephew who was a computer whiz to build a website for selling used construction equipment. They used a program called Frontpage and spent the Thanksgiving holidays in 2000 designing and building it. The day after Christmas, a customer drove in from Georgia and bought a trailer load of equipment. Through this website and subsequent email marketing, Bryan has sold equipment not just in the United States, but worldwide. Bryan founded his own company, Cross Timbers Equipment, in 2007. In 2014, Bryan began renting construction equipment to all types of contractors, but mainly to asphalt paving contractors. In 2019, he wanted to grow his rental business, so he thought if he could help his contractors get more jobs, then they would continue to rent his equipment. So, from that idea Asphalt Marketing Crew became a business. As a matter of fact, his first client was renting their paver when Bryan began helping them grow their business. They were able to reach $5,000,000 in sales their first year. After two years of working with Bryan, they own their own fleet of equipment and continue to grow. The desire to help a business a grow has become a passion for Bryan. In February of this year, he merged his equipment business with his business partner of ten years. Bryan now focuses his time on helping asphalt paving contractors and others grow their business. Bryan currently resides in Denton, Texas with his wife and 4 Boston Terriers. Bryan considers himself a Texas BBQ Smoke Master, but also enjoys travel, sports, and fishing. But his passion is seeing his customers grow their businesses so they can reach their goals and that they are able to make their dreams a reality.

Not trying to be smart with this post, but there are some who do nothing with leads and then wonder why their competitors are booked up. Anyway, I found the magic solution to rank on Google.

Ready?

Answer. Your. Phone.

That’s it. That’s the secret.

You can drop thousands on SEO, websites, and ads… but if you ghost your leads when they finally call, Google notices. If you’re on the job site and cannot answer, then forward your calls to someone on your team that can answer.

Google is not in the business of sending their users to businesses that don’t respond.

So if you’re wondering why your rankings suck, it might not be Google’s fault, or your agency's. It might be yours.

Have a plan for missed calls. Or enjoy page 12.

Your ability to scale a service business without sacrificing significant quality is directly tied to your character.

Character doesn’t hide, it’s revealed in the end.
You’ll either be exposed or praised.

Be patient.
Play the long game.

I had a contractor mesage and ask if putting $1,000 per month into just a website and maintenance made sense.

Here’s the reality:

Most companies in the asphalt industry still rely heavily on word of mouth and referrals. That works until it doesn’t. It’s not predictable, and it’s definitely not scalable.

A website alone won’t grow your business. Not without a full strategy behind it.

If your goal is growth, you need more than a digital brochure.
You need a system. A real marketing engine.

That means paid ads like Google and Facebook, database reactivation, Google review campaigns, and yes, a solid website paired with SEO. But all of it has to work together.

Don’t fall for buzzword services that sound good but won’t move the needle.

Do your homework! Find a team with a proven track record in this industry that can actually show they make companies just like yours a S**T TON of money.

Then go all in.

💚Wishing all of you success

Long-Term Thinking = Long-Term Success

Investing in marketing is investing in scaling your company. It’s how you go from chasing jobs to choosing them. It’s how you build a brand people recognize and trust. And it’s how you make sure you’re booked solid—not just this season, but every season.

So the next time you look at your budget and see the marketing line item, ask yourself:

👉 Is this taking money away from me?
👉 Or is this putting me in front of my next 100 customers?

Bottom line: If you treat marketing like an expense, you’ll try to save your way to growth.
But if you treat it like an investment—you’ll build a company that keeps growing long after the asphalt cools.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes This Memorial Day 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage paved the way for everything we build today — on and off the job site.

Asphalt contractors know the value of a solid foundation. Let’s honor those who laid down theirs so we could build a better tomorrow.

From all of us at Asphalt Clicks, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication — both in uniform and in work boots.

Wishing you a safe and reflective Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

As a business owner I play and dream just like you. I have always liked corvettes (never owned one yet). I went to a corvette show in Grapevine , TX and the highlight was not a beautiful car. It was meeting these guys who are NYPD police officers and players for NYPD Football. NYPD Football is in town to play Dallas PD’s team, the Dallas Defenders today. Talk about a tough job they must have keeping New York safe!

🛑 Are You Leaving Money on the Pavement? 🛑

If you’re still pricing jobs based on square footage alone, it’s time for a reality check.

Here are 3 silent profit killers I see asphalt and sealcoating contractors make all the time:

Pricing Without Context
You quote $x dollars/sq ft because it’s “the market rate.” But is it a residential driveway with heavy oil stains? A parking lot with 50+ linear feet of edge cutting? Every project has context—and you’re not a commodity.

Underestimating Labor Efficiency
Your best crew gets a job done in 6 hours. Your newer crew takes 9. If you're not adjusting your labor projections per team, your profit margins are being chipped away, silently.

Not Charging for Scope Creep
Extra prep, w**d removal, or filling surprise potholes—if it's not in the original scope, it needs to be a change order. Period. “Being nice” is costing you thousands.

✅ Pro Tip: Build your estimates like a contractor, not a vendor. Break down labor, materials, overhead, AND the risk factor. Add a 10% buffer for the unexpected. You’re not just selling a blacktop surface—you’re selling peace of mind and long-term durability.

AI is literally about to take the world through brute force, and businesses still haven't tackled setting up a Google Business Profile,
If you want to stay relevant... Actually if you want to stay IN BUSINESS. Then you need to start putting some effort into your online identity and presence.
This sounds like a fear based tactic, but it's the truth. As an Agency we too will have to adapt this huge innovation as it develops.
