Everyday, more and more listeners are moving from traditional FM and AM radio frequencies to digital platforms. While we love our traditional media colleagues, we here at Denton Radio decided to take a different approach. Instead of creating another frequency or platform for listeners to adopt, we decided to go to the digital platforms our listeners prefer to consume music and entertainment and promote Denton content there.
Today’s “radio” is not a frequency, it is a platform to consume music and information. Today artists fight to be listed within the best Spotify playlists and interviewed by the biggest YouTube channels. Today’s radio is digital.
We want to be on the cutting edge of listener consumption, so our team focuses on promoting Denton music through digital platforms, rather than traditional media. But there is a second reason for this decision. As a program of Discover Denton, we are tasked with promoting Denton music and entertainment the best way we know how, telling as many people across the world why they should come to Denton. Traditional media is confined to a geography. Traditional media is wonderful for entertaining those already within Denton (for example, check out our friends at KUZU radio), but traditional media is limited in its ability to promote outside of the community (unless using digital platforms).
Digital platforms are the preferred method for sharing content with others, this is essential for maximum promotion.
