Most people in the U.S. use 70 gallons of water a day—for everything! If you're open to a non-tankless option, check out the Cloud RO. Great filtration, built-in remineralization, and tons of smart data through its app.

The high production rate is great in certain cases, the filter change reminder on the faucet is super helpful, and I love the 2-year warranty upgrade. But it’s not all perfect — here’s what could still be better.

To keep results consistent, we used metric measurements, glass stir rods, and short air contact. Each 500 mL beaker was mixed the same way, filled into vials, sealed, and shipped the same day for testing.

Since there’s no exact standard for lemon water, we picked a balanced amount — 10 mL of fresh lemon juice per 500 mL of water. It’s right between half and one lemon per glass, perfect for fair testing and easy comparisons.

I tested the Waterdrop X12 after hearing reports of contaminants in another model. While we didn’t find dichloromethane or xylene, we did detect antimony — a toxic metal — in small amounts. Here’s what I found and what might be causing it.

Online advice for salt sole varies a lot — some say a full teaspoon per 8 oz, others say start small. For fair comparison and realistic use, we scaled the smaller “starter” amount: 2.6 ml per 500 ml of water. Enough minerals, not a salt overload!

We made sure every change we measured came only from the products — not the water. Using two gallons of distilled water, we poured 250 ml from each into every sample beaker. That way, everything started from the same clean baseline.

This reverse osmosis system seriously impressed me. Great at cutting out contaminants and it comes with a built-in remineralization filter—no extra steps or parts needed. Clean, mineral-rich water right from the tap!

Before we could start testing, we had to make sure our doses were right. We made a “sole” (a saturated brine) by mixing pink Himalayan and Celtic sea salt in distilled water until no more salt dissolved. Easy but essential!

Before testing any remineralizing method, we had to get the dosing right. For pink Himalayan and Celtic sea salt, we made sole — a fully saturated brine created by dissolving the salt in distilled water until crystals stopped dissolving.

💧Simple, natural, and ready for testing!
