going with the flow 🏔️🌿🌊

we’ve only went camping twice this summer, but it doesn’t mean that we aren’t active outside… if anything, we are somehow busier than normal. it truly makes us appreciate slowing down with the dogs whenever we have a spare moment, and I’ve found I haven’t reached for my camera as much lately.

it’s finally our wedding week & we can’t wait to share more once things settle down — but for now, we’ve got family + friends coming into town. the girls will be coming with on my bachelorette trip! going to take some time off + enjoy 🤍

hope everyone had a fun 4th of July weekend — we went on our 3rd annual camping trip with friends. it was nice to unplug & come back feeling recharged!

realizing I might actually like ‘farm life’ 🐑🌾✨

on this week’s episode of trying something new with my dogs: we tried sheep (again) and had much more success! it was especially cool having show us the ropes with her fancy new herding skills (yes, I’m currently planning my dream house with a backyard full of ducks & maybe some goats 👀)

watching my little working line dog in her natural habitat fills me with so much joy. just one more door she’s opened for us to explore!

a love like no other 🌄🌞🌙

there’s something about your heart dog — your first dog — the comfort, the easiness of how you fall back into your routine. maybe that’s why we felt the calling to expand our pack, because they taught us everything about learning to be open & being our truest selves, that we had a greater capacity to love.

it all started with her. 🤍

the scene & the scenery of the coast 🌞🌅✨

this time last year, we packed up and drove 22 hours so we could see the Pacific Ocean for the first time.

but we didn’t just see — we felt it all. the cold water, the constant mist in the air, the endless grains of sand in your hair and between your toes. a rainforest nestled amongst the beach and the mountains.. I’ve never felt such a strong desire to move to another state besides Colorado until this moment.

a long lineage of girls
who taunt with their toys
who grumble low in both annoyance
and playful love,
who sit patiently for handouts
(and gently nudge a reminder when needed.)

and although I know one day
the last of your fur will fall off my clothes,

I hope I’ll always see a bit of you in every dog I have the privilege of knowing

as if your soul lives on inside them.

what a gift it is
to love & be loved
to know heartbreak
alongside immense passion

it seems that these are the hallmarks of a good life, of stories to tell, of attempts made to reap what we sow.

we surround ourselves with souls that set our own on fire.

may we all continue to love
with the wisdom it holds
and never let go
of the ones who return it.

what’s your pup’s favorite time of year?

Leia would say autumn
because the cooler weather
still allows for an occasional dip
in the lake

but winter is a close second…
only because snow is edible.
