Recently, Zach and I completed a 6-week course offered by our friends, the Love Lifters. Specifically designed to help couples "date" their partners again, their program encourages long-term lovers to try new and different activities, to reconnect in unusual ways, and to break out of their comfort zones, all with the hopes of reigniting those same exciting sparks that were present waaaaay back "in the beginning".

When Zach and I first heard about what they were offering, we were keen to try it for ourselves. We've been together 14 years now and while exploration and travel do keep things exciting, we knew we'd both benefit from some fresh ideas in the dating department. Throughout the program, we met with our coaches and were given structured dating assignments to be completed weekly. They provided us with tons of options, resources, inspiration, and support. It was eye-opening, deeply helpful, and hilariously fun. If you and your partner are ready to sweep out the cobwebs and give your dating repertoire a swift kick in the arsenal, contact today!

These images were captured during one of our first assignments where we were challenged to be vulnerable together by taking photos in a public place. Because Zach and I don’t have a serious bone in our bodies, we thought it was the perfect time to recreate an awkward couple photoshoot circa JCPenney's in the 90s. Please enjoy.

Which pic do you think is the most ridiculous? Would you and your partner brave embarrassment and create your own photoshoot in the park?

On Monday, we left the US for our 5th long-term, international trip! This time to Australia by way of Vancouver as a short layover. But before our flight departed from Denver, we were told that the plane was having toilet issues and would need to return to the gate for maintenance. By the time the work was completed and we finally took off, it was clear we would miss our connection. Crappy, I know!... But, after sleeping off our frustrations at an airline-comped hotel, we hit up every person we knew in Vancouver to make the most of our unexpected day there. We wandered downtown and the waterfront, met up with Alison (in real life!) for .ca and poutine then saw Sarah and Felix (for a 3rd time since meeting in Colombia in 2018) for a quick . We walked over 10 miles, fell in love with Vancouver in just one afternoon, and boarded our flight to Sydney that night, full, happy, and ready for any other adventures that come our way, carefully planned or epically spontaneous. Sometimes, you gotta turn life’s lemons into long layovers and travel, eat, connect, repeat. It’s that simple, friends.

As Zach often reminds me, my captions can turn into novels and novels have no place on IG & FB, so we're starting a newsletter! (More details to come.) If you are interested in reading, in-depth, about our adventures, DM me your email address and I'll add you to the mailing list!

Last week was a whirlwind of friends, fur, family, and food. From Florida to Wyoming, with a few stops in between, we sat on sunrise beaches, drank half-priced mojitos, and pet all the pooches. We threw a whimsical western wedding and toasted to love and life! We ate until we could eat no more and laughed until our cups overflowed. We are so fortunate, and that fact is not lost on us. If each one of us could lead with a bit more gratitude, this world would be a much better place.

10 years. A whole decade of laughter, love, adventures, and growing together. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at the one and only Casa Bonita—because what better way to mark a milestone than with cliff divers, sopaipillas, and pure nostalgic magic?

Grateful for every moment we’ve shared and excited for all that’s still to come. Here’s to the memories behind us and the dreams ahead. Happy 10th to us!

Last January, we found ourselves with little DIRECTION for the year ahead. So, we made a list of where we HOPED to be each month, factoring in new travel destinations, FAMILY events, and FRIENDS’ plans. It was as if our course was set the MOMENT that pen hit paper. Our INTENTIONS seemed to naturally guide our DECISIONS and influence all our movements. Did we MANIFEST 2024? It’s hard to say. What I do know is that our year unfolded almost EXACTLY as written…

When Zach and I got married in 2015, we asked our guests to give us money toward a honeymoon as opposed to a traditional gift registry because we needed a vacation and didn't need a second toaster. As we researched where we wanted to go, we stumbled across a similar story of a newly married couple who had turned their short-term honeymoon into an epic 500-day adventure spanning the globe. Why the hell couldn't that be us? We owned no property, had no pets or kids, we weren't in careers we loved. If this couple could do it, then so could we. Together, with guidance and advice from our new Internet obsession, HoneyTrek Zach and I began to build what would become the next decade of our lives. We watched the HT packing video over and over, we adopted their saving and budgeting plan, we took notes on every travel resource they provided, we even created our own travel moniker, heavily inspired by their brand name. Finally, in October of 2017, we left the USA on a one-way ticket to South America.

Since that first trip, we've spent over 25 months living and traveling abroad. We watched the Honeytrek brand grow and expand, continually inspiring us to travel with purpose and passion. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we'd meet Mike and Anne, in person... until this past weekend. We attended Camp Indie, a travel and networking conference disguised as an adult summer camp and guess who the keynote speakers were?! I tried so hard not to fangirl, as I shared our story and explained just how deeply their journey has impacted our own. We connected over mutual travel experiences and even made loose plans to meet up out in the world someday (Burning Man, anyone?).

Most days, we have no idea if we're on the paths that are meant for us. We don't know the road ahead or how we'll get there. But occasionally, in rich and wonderful, full-circle moments such as this, we know without a doubt that we are right where we're meant to be, trekking through life as part of the sweetest community around! Thank you Mike and Anne, from the bottom of our backpacks!

9 years ago, we had visions of having our wedding/honeymoon in Scotland or Ireland, but at th time, we opted for the more affordable route and got married locally. Well, today we spent our 9 year wedding anniversary in a place we have both dreamt about for a very long time.

Today, we depart the US on a trip unlike any we've taken to date! For the first time, we are taking a major international trip with a family member! We'll be exploring Ireland with my dad for the next 3 weeks! We are crazy excited to visit this dream location but we are more stoked to share our passion for the world and experience all its wild adventures with someone we love! See you tomorrow, Dublin! 🇮🇪☘️🍺

Well, we blinked and this leg of the adventure is now coming to a close. In minutes, we board a flight heading to NYC and will arrive back in Denver late this evening, after 264 days away. While we still want to share about dogsitting and our time in the UK (which we absolutely loved BTW), we are excited to spend time with loved ones and plan the next round of travel opportunities. Going "home" feels bittersweet, as even though our community holds us together, our desires for adventure draw us away. After all, it is through movement that we bloom. So, we strive for balance between the familiar and the unknown. It's all part of the journey, after all.

"Ultimately, travel isn’t about creating a worldlier persona that you project on others; it’s about realigning your values through action, and rediscovering a fuller sense of self. Travel isn’t about embracing cutting-edge destination trends; it’s about embracing parts of your being that you didn’t previously know existed. Travel isn’t about fine-tuning your self-presentation; it’s about breaking open a more personal love of the world, and a deeper love of yourself."

Once upon a time...

There lived a husband and a wife, who led a perfectly normal life. They had friends and family, careers and possessions, and yet they were not happy. They dreamt of a life much bigger than their own. So they sold their things, said goodbye to those they loved and headed out to see the world in all its wonder. This is their story...
