“Don’t Take My Picture” Truly a labor of love to complete this mosaic of my granddaughter, Harlow. This was my therapy after recovering from major surgery and cancer treatments. Every single piece that I cut and glued, represents a small victory.
Wanted your thoughts on grout. I’m considering just grouting the background in grey and leaving the rest without grout.

Help! Made this for my granddaughter, I ❤ it, just don't know if I should grout it. Or if I do, maybe the unicorn white, then the blue in grey grout. Also thought of resin.

Here’s the finished totem!
(Please see my posts from yesterday and today for more details).
I’ve topped it with a color-changing solar-powered light, which won’t shine until charged and it’s dark out.
Pics include the random thrift store items that I started with.

My daughter loves flamingos, so for her 41st birthday I made her this one. I don't think she really liked it, as she is not crazy about mosaics, but everyone else seemed to like it. She said she would have preferred it without the whimsical jewelry and headdress. Really?!

I know this one isn’t for everyone..... this is my COVID project. All the stones, shells, beach glass and fossils were picked up along the ways on our travels at home and abroad. Scott would always ask me ‘what are you going to do with that stuff?’ And I would answer ‘I don’t know’. Well, now I do! I was able to travel again, back to all the lovely and amazing places we’ve been as I worked on this. I learned a LOT as I went along.
And now our bar area is ‘dressed up’!

Keep persisting. I've applied a few times to the Fine Arts Exhibition at the MN State Fair with no luck. 300+ entries are accepted out of 2,500 applicants. This year, I got accepted. Yesterday morning my neighbor informed me that my piece was mentioned in the Star Tribune as 1 of 10 pieces to look for at the fair. I went to the Preview Night last night and found out I got 1st place in the Ceramics/Glass division. I am beyond thrilled.

Update:
I uploaded some close-ups and a video if anyone is interested. This was my first time in water since it’s been done, and I suddenly realised that there’s a lot of salt deposits and grout clean-up to do.. So I guess it’s not finished yet 🤷‍♀️😁
There My project is finally complete!

Alpaca Pearl is ready to fly! I created this character, Alpaca Pearl, a few years ago and wrote and illustrated 2 children's books entitled, Alpaca Pearl Packs for Peru and Alpaca Pearl Packs for the Poles. From those illustrations, I created 2 mosaics. This is one I finished today. I used dishes of various kinds, stained glass, smalti, ball bearings off a bicycle, glass rods, and glass pebbles.
Alpaca Pearl has tons of enthusiasm and LOVES adventures. She makes me laugh. I hope you enjoy her.

Hi everyone! I have discovered how to make stepping stones for my garden, the “backwards” method. I would be happy to share if anyone is interested.
Here’s how many stones come out if one bag of concrete. 🤗
