M A R was Month of Print. Our cover and center spread, featured the bold work of Margaret DeKoven.

Margaret is a Colorado‑based printmaker whose evocative monoprints, woodblock prints, and etchings explore the beauty, strength, and vulnerability of her subjects. Drawing inspiration from street scenes and photographs, her work highlights Indigenous women, migrants, and figures in society through elemental shapes and color, encouraging viewers to connect with shared human stories. Check her out!

Next we take a peek at a recent project by the design geniuses at and see how they open up the story of a Denver square circa 1898.

of chats about the only thing to pull her out of hibernation…Denver’s Spring Concert season!

Finally we chat with neighbor, artist and friend . Joon Tajadod’s work doesn’t sit still, and neither does the story she’s telling. What begins in florals quickly unfolds into layered compositions that echo Persian rugs, ritual, and memory, each piece an exploration of identity that feels both intimate and expansive. Through painting and immersive Sofreh installations, she’s not just creating art, she’s creating space: for her Iranian heritage, reclamation, and connection.

About five years ago, we found that one of our neighbors had discarded a beautiful, hard-cover, art deco yearbook from the 20s. We considered this to be a serious crime and fished it out of the trash. Without hesitation, we gifted it to our dear friend - she would know what to do. It wasn’t long before she gifted us this beautiful piece combining her photo collage with a long lost yearbook photo. Now this girl lives forever. This was also on page 5 of our March issue, so if you received that, you have a piece of this story now too. 💗

There’s a particular kind of magic that lives in old homes, not just in their architectural details, but in the way they hold memory, habit, and future possibility all at once. Built in 1898, this classic Denver square arrived with strong bones and warm wood already telling part of the story. The opportunity for Atelier Interior Design wasn’t to reinvent it, but to listen carefully: to the house, to the homeowners, and to the rhythms of a growing family finding their footing.

From the outset, preservation mattered. Original windows, doors, and millwork weren’t obstacles to work around, they were assets to be protected. But reverence alone doesn’t make a home livable. With one young child and another on the way, this project demanded rigor behind the scenes: spaces that flex, storage that disappears into the architecture, and rooms that earn their keep every day.

Color enters not as decoration, but as conversation. Anchored by a beloved piece of art and the natural warmth of the home’s original materials, the palette feels confident yet grounded, expressive without being overwhelming. It’s a reflection of the homeowners themselves: one bold, one measured, both deeply invested in creating a space that feels like home rather than a statement.

We sat down with Atelier Design’s Owner, Katie Schroder to discover their study in balance, between past and present, intuition and intention, beauty and use. This is design that doesn’t shout, but knows exactly who it is. Full feature linked in bio.

In a creative landscape that often favors the polished and the mass-produced, offers something far more meaningful: a space rooted in community, collaboration, and the belief that art should be both seen and shared. March is a month that demands honesty.
As we recognize Women’s History Month, we are reminded that women have always created under pressure. Through making art, building businesses, holding families together, and shaping communities while carrying burdens that were never evenly distributed.
Women are doing the heavy lifting in nearly every sphere of life. We are working, caregiving, organizing, creating, and surviving in systems that continue to dismiss our autonomy, our labor, and our safety. Laws are being written that disregard women’s health. Barriers are being erected that threaten women’s voices and access to civic participation. The impact is not distant, it is personal, and it is being felt in our bodies, our homes, and our futures.
At Urban Life Wash Park, supporting women is not symbolic and it is not seasonal. It is a year-round commitment to visibility, dignity, and collective care. We believe womxn deserve safety. We believe women deserve autonomy. We believe women deserve to be heard, protected, and celebrated, not only when its comfortable.
This month is for celebration and a stance. A reminder that women have always found ways to leave their imprint, through ink, through action, through resilience, and that we will continue to do so.

J A N marked issue 109 and the first in our tenth year!

The cover and center spread feature the brilliant art of Lyndy Bush . She originates from New Mexico but lives and works out of her studio here in Colorado. Her work explores the connection she has with rural landscapes spanning Southern NM and into the Front Range. We fell in love with the way she depicts light in her oil paintings.

This year has been devastating for immigrant communities and there is no sign of it improving anytime soon. Families are living with fear, uncertainty, and the very real threat of separation.

We stand with our immigrant neighbors, and we believe families belong together.

In the midst of this, we look to the helpers. is showing up every day with dignity and care, supporting people released from detention, reuniting families, and reminding us what community-led compassion looks like when the system fails.

This work matters, and it’s why we continue to call for the defunding of ICE and the redirection of resources toward humane, community-based support.
