The Wichita Fire Department has entered the Battle of the Badges - for Blood Cancer United - Kansas. We're challenging every Fire Department, EMS agency, and Law Enforcement agency in Kansas to join us in raising money to fight blood cancer.

Let's see which badge can raise the most and make the biggest impact. ❤️🏆🚒🚑🚓

We have TWO weeks left to fundraise. I'm needing to get to our $59,000 goal -- fast!

Tornado sirens and radar are both important tools used to warn of dangerous weather. In the 1950s, Wichita was the place air raid sirens turned to tornado warning devices AND experimental radar was first put to use. Check it out below…

Special thanks to Sedgwick County Government Emergency Management, Mike Smith and his book “Warnings The True Story of How Science Tamed the Weather,” and US National Weather Service Wichita Kansas for their inspiration and assistance on this story that celebrates America’s 250th.

While the possibility of a couple storms developing is relatively low, if a storm does develop, the environment will be favorable for severe weather this evening into tonight. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings and weather information.
