Dear Capital City Pride ,
This weekend was incredible for Capital City Pride. ๐๐ฆ๐ณ๏ธโ๐
It was also my last Pride serving on the board as I roll off due to life changes. There were so many moments this weekend where I found myself tearing up, knowing a change is coming. But those tears were also filled with gratitude.
Over the last two years, I have made so many connections, so many lifelong friends, and learned more than I ever could have imagined. These experiences have truly been life-changing. I have loved every single moment.
This community became my family. It taught me how to embrace my authentic self, to take up space, to lead with love, and to believe in who I amโeven when I doubted myself. I learned so much about the LGBTQ+ community, its resilience, its joy, and the importance of showing up for one another. I learned that being an ally means using your voice, standing up for what is right, and fighting for the dignity, safety, and rights of our trans community members when they need us most.
I will never forget what Capital City Pride has meant to me. While this chapter is ending, the love, memories, and people will always stay with me.
And no matter where life takes me next, Iโll always be the little unicorn who could. ๐ฆโจ๐
Thank you for everything. Hereโs to new beginnings, continuing to advocate for love and equality, and carrying Pride with me wherever I go.
With love and gratitude,
Alex
