SPC outlook for today has a slight risk of severe storms set up along a boundary from eastern Nebraska into southern Iowa after 6pm.

The main threats are flash flooding along with wind and hail. These storms will be slow moving, so heavy rainfall over a short period of time will be possible. The lower level winds do not appear to support tornadoes but never say never. There will be plenty of cape (instability) and moisture in place for storms to feed off of.

I am finally back home today after being out of town for work. Ready for a chase if I can get out there!

NWS has issued a flash flood watch through tomorrow morning. NAM rainfall estimates shown as well. Widespread 2-4+ inches possible.

Keep an eye on those low lying streams and rivers if you’re in a flood prone area tonight and tomorrow.

Tough chase today. I don’t think I’ve ever chased 4 states in one day. Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa.

I saw several rotating wall clouds on multiple warned supercells.

Time to get home and get some rest!

All hazards are on deck for today. Level 4 out of 5 moderate risk in place for much of Kansas and SE Nebraska.

2-4” hail with strong to intense tornadoes possible.

Be sure your friends and family in these areas are aware of the threats this afternoon/evening.

If there are tornadoes in Nebraska today, it’s a safe bet someone will see them.
