In Case you Missed it!
Five Proofs You Are Called to Be Prophetic by Sara Williams
You were made to hear God and carry His heart. Jesus’ followers know His voice; the Spirit is poured out; we’re urged to desire prophecy; the Holy Spirit lives in us; and the world needs hope. Lean in, listen, and speak life.

By Sarah Williams Have you ever received a message from God through another person? Did it make you wonder how they found themselves in a place that they could confidently articulate a divine word? Perhaps you have pondered the selection of these servants of God and what path led them to become H...

God is still calling a new generation to the mission field, and Open Bible is answering that call. Meet McKendre Veenstra and Zac Anderson, two newly appointed missionaries preparing to serve in Japan and Mexico. Their unique gifts and passionate hearts are helping take the gospel to the nations.

One of wonderful things I get to do as Executive Director of Global Missions is discover new missionary candidates. God is still calling young people to be missionaries, the “sent out” ones. We are always looking for those who are called to help us reach the unreached people of the world with th...

What began as a reluctant move and a tiny family-led church plant became the foundation for a multigenerational legacy of faith and ministry. Melissa Alvarez shares her powerful journey from teenage drummer to licensed pastor as she answers the call to launch an English-speaking church birthed from her parents’ Hispanic congregation. It’s a story of calling, perseverance, and the God who never forgets His promises.

At thirteen, I encountered God, and His love transformed me. Since then, I have seen His hand throughout my life, and church planting has played a central role in my story. In 2001, my parents were given the opportunity to plant an Open Bible Hispanic Church in Burbank, California. It would require....

Hispanic brothers and sisters have been and continue to be an integral part of the Open Bible family: shaping our mission, expanding our reach, and enriching our story. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, this issue honors their legacy, leadership, and the powerful ways God is moving through Hispanic churches and leaders.

When I was in first grade, I attended William Carey Academy, a small private school in Pasadena, California, that primarily served the children of missionaries who were on home assignment. The school was on the campus of the U.S. Center for World Mission, a collaborative mission base, which meant th...

In a culture shaped by digital overload and shallow connection, how can we disciple people in a way that actually transforms lives? Gary Khan offers five timely insights for creating Christ followers who are rooted in relationship, empowered by the Spirit, and shaped by real-world mission. Ministry may look different now, but the call to make disciples remains as urgent as ever.

Recently, at an Alpha leaders’ meeting at our church, someone asked, “What does relevant ministry look like in today’s culture?” I think I decoded that question as “How do we effectively create Christ followers in a way that is relevant for today?” Cultural shifts, digital saturation, an...

After 21 years with her father’s kidney, Mary Lou Wolfe found herself back in a dialysis chair—disappointed, discouraged, and wondering if God had forgotten His promises. But just when hope seemed out of reach, God showed up in a way only He could. This powerful story of perseverance, faith, and unexpected healing will remind you: He’s not done yet.

“Your father’s kidney is no longer functioning in your body, but twenty-one years is a good run. You need to start dialysis.” That wasn’t the deal I had made with the Lord. When I received my kidney transplant from my dad, he was the perfect match. I was fourteen years old and had been sick ...

In Case you missed it.

God Will Always Provide
By Roger Cox

Ly and Sarin Mak have seen God’s hand of provision throughout their lives. From surviving the horrors of the Khmer Rouge to beginning a new life in the U.S. Today, as missionaries in one of Cambodia’s poorest villages, they continue to trust His provision while serving their community.

That same heart of faith is what inspires MOVE Ministries. This coming January 2026, MOVE will partner with Lifesong Learning Center in Cambodia to construct new classrooms. Lifesong currently serves 90 children in grades K–3, and with this project, their vision of offering education through high school can become a reality.

💡 The Goal: $55,000 for classroom construction.
🙌 A team of 50 men is traveling in January to help build.
❤️ With your prayers and generosity, we can meet the need and give these children the opportunity to learn, grow, and know Jesus.

Together, we’re not just building classrooms—we’re building hope and a future.

By Roger Cox When you can participate in a vision that was birthed in the heart of God, you will always see God’s divine provision. As it says in Philippians 4:19 (NIV), “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”   In the past twenty years this pr...

In Case You Missed It: Learning to Lament
By Jessica Sanford

Some people seem unfazed by life’s struggles, while others voice every frustration. But how do we navigate emotions in a way that is both honest and healthy?

👉 Read her article to discover what it means to lament in a biblical and healthy way.

By Jessica Sanford  By nature, I tend to shy away from negative emotions, preferring a world where everyone is happy and there’s no conflict. (Yes, I do realize this kind of world does not exist this side of heaven, but one can always dream!) As a result of my desire to avoid all things negative,...
