It s National Pie Day!!! Time for some PIE TRIVIA - The ancient Egyptians invented pie over 10,000 yrs ago! The Greeks then began making a flakier pastry for their pies. The Romans then added a top to their meat pies , holding in all the juices and flavors. The English then began to perfect the fruit pie! Iowans are very kind. There have been many questions on how best to help the victims and firefighters affected by the California fires. I have put together an article with prescreened nonprofits for you.

This is a reminder to be careful with all of the fundraising site requests that are popping up. Unfortunately, a few people always try to take advantage of tragedy.

Fires continue to burn across Greater Los Angeles in California with at least 15 reported deaths, thousands of homes destroyed, and many left unhoused by evacuations. These are prescreened nonprofits taking donations to assist victims, firefighters, and volunteers.
