***IN CUSTODY***

DMPD detectives received a tip that Scott was driving a stolen vehicle and hanging out on the west side if Des Moines. Scott was spotted by an off-duty DMPD officer driving that stolen car during the evening of Friday, May 16. He was able to slip away before uniformed officers could arrive.

A short time later, Urbandale Police Dept officers saw Scott and a vehicle pursuit began. Scott was caught as he ran from the stolen car after a minor crash.

Scott is being held at the Polk Co Jail.

***WANTED WEDNESDAY***

DMPD is requesting the community’s assistance with locating a person with active felony warrants.

40-year-old Daniel Joseph Scott has a felony warrants of Arson - 2nd Degree and Theft - 2nd Degree related to a March 2025 incident where a vehicle was stolen from an eastside convenience store. The vehicle was recovered the following day, abandoned and burned.

When the vehicle was stolen, it contained three rifles. The rifles have not been recovered.

Scott also has multiple active warrants from suburban agencies.

Scott is believed to be armed and is known to be assaultive.
