Today is Positive Media Day!

How you can celebrate Positive Media Day:
*Share good news! Share news stories or media that leave people happy, moved and or inspired.
*Good vibes only! Make your content as positive as possible.

Positive Media Day is the day to be inspired and uplifted throughout your news feeds and mainstream media. There is too much good happening and not enough recognition for that good.

HAPPY WORLD PRODUCTIVITY DAY!

Let today be a day to raise awareness about the importance of productivity and to encourage individuals and organizations, just like our journalists and newspapers, to find ways to work smarter and achieve more. Let us celebrate and acknowledge all of our journalists' and newspapers' achievements, boost their motivations and continue with encouragement.

We are so proud!

Please welcome award-winning high school journalist Levi Foster, who joins the INA team as our first-ever intern!

Levi will create content highlighting some of the state’s top high school journalism programs and cover the expansion of journalism among younger generations.

Levi has served on The Talon, Ankeny High School’s news team, as a reporter before being quickly promoted to several editorial roles. He helped the Ankeny journalism program win over 60 awards at the Iowa High School Press Association Spring Journalism Contest, while taking home seven personal awards, including honorable mentions in the Photographer of the Year award and Opinion Writer of the Year award. Levi is also an IHSPA Scholar and a member of the international Quill and Scroll Honor Society.

Levi got into journalism as a junior in high school to get over his social anxiety, but gradually fell in love with storytelling through words and photographs. He plans on attending Iowa State University in the fall to double major in Journalism and Mass Communications and Sports Media and Communications.

May 3 marks World Press Freedom Day—a reminder for governments to uphold their commitment to press freedom and an opportunity for media professionals to reflect on the critical issues of freedom and ethics in journalism. It’s also a day to stand in solidarity with media organizations under threat and to remember the journalists who have lost their lives in the pursuit of truth.

The Iowa Newspaper Foundation invites you to make a difference by donating to directly support vital programs that strengthen Iowa newspapers and keep our communities informed.
