What comes out when you’re squeezed? The real stuff…whatever it may be. If you want to see someone’s true colors, see them under fire. Stressed. Whatever is on the inside comes out whenever we get squeezed.

“Though the crop fails, and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep or cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:18

I’m challenged by that verse. Because joy doesn’t always come out of me when I’m squeezed.

I want faith, hope, and trust to ooze out of me….in the good, the bad, and in the squeeze.

Are you feeling the heat today? Does life feel like it's squeezing the life right out of you? It happens to all of us.

Try this: Take a deep breath and thank God, your Savior…..not for anything other than that….that He has saved you. Gratitude. Worship. Thanksgiving. It just may change what comes out of you next. Let’s rejoice in the Lord….even when squeezed! – Sandi

If you love someone who needs Jesus, remember that God loves them too. And He is always moving toward the ONE…who doesn’t yet know Him. The ONE who is broken hearted. The ONE who is feeling alone or forgotten.

Remember the story of Jonah? His story doesn’t begin with him getting swallowed by a big fish…..it begins with a God who loves to reach the needy ones. God’s heart was broken because an entire city needed His love and attention. So, He sent Jonah to reach them.

“Nineveh has more than 120,000 people who can’t tell their right hand from the left….
Should I not be concerned?” Jonah 4:11

This story is about YOU and everyone who is struggling to find their way. God loves you and would do anything to reach you. Then once He does, He wants to use YOU to reach others just like YOU.

Are you in need of Hope? He’s got you. And if He’s already got you, He’s asking you to have a heart of compassion for others just like you…..or maybe nothing like you.

Have you ever met someone for the first time, and you just KNOW that they love Jesus? I have too. Their love for God almost oozes out of them. I want to ooze!

“Always be prepared to give an answer when someone asks you for the reason you have hope.
But do so with gentleness and respect.”
1 Peter 3:15

Gentleness and respect. When they ooze out of your words and actions, people take notice. Your LOVE is LOUD. And it opens the door to share about the hope you’ve found in Jesus.

Long before we speak His name, we get to demonstrate His kindness. The gentle attitude. The consistent love. And the bold yet grace-filled confidence in God. That’s what oozes out of a heart of hope. May we ooze out on everyone we meet today. – Sandi

How many decisions will you have to make today? How many ideas or plans do you have swirling around in your mind? Need a little help?

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22

Asking for wise counsel is not a sign of weakness. There’s nothing better than Godly advice.

I love getting input from truth speakers in my life. They remind me that I don’t have to carry the weight and pressure of the matter alone.

And when you ask for input, it says to them and to God that you really want to get this “right.”

I believe that God honors a humble heart that desires wisdom. So, bring someone who is wise and truthful into your decisions or plans today and see how God honors it. He will. – Sandi

About 25 years ago, before JOY FM was on the air, I read a verse in Proverbs and wrote this in the margin of my bible: “This is the vision for radio ministry.” Here’s the verse:

“An anxious heart weighs a person down, but a kind word cheers him up.” Proverbs 12:25

Do you know why we’re named “JOY?” Because of this verse. Because joy and kindness change you from the inside out.

We all know someone who is anxious or who has a heavy heart. Maybe you do as well. But we don’t have to live under the weight and anxiety. And for those of us who know Jesus, our kind words can be a bit of joy and life to someone who is struggling.

I hope you feel less anxious every time you listen to JOY FM. And I hope you will be on the lookout today for someone to share some joy with….a kind word….and trust God at His word; that your kind word will bring peace and joy to someone who needs it. – Sandi

Why is it that I can remember something hurtful that was said to me when I was 10 years old, but I can’t remember where I put my car keys this morning? Because words hurt. But words can also heal.

“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Proverbs 12:18

The tongue of the wise brings healing. We need more healing…not only in our world but in our homes and wherever you’re heading today.

I’ve been on both sides of reckless and healing words. You probably have too. I’ve said crushing things to people I love. And regretting every syllable.

And I’ve received words of life from friends when I needed it most.

Here’s the challenge: may our words bring healing today, not hurt. May we look for ways to speak life and grace to people today. You may be able to speak life and healing into someone’s hurting heart today. – Sandi
