In 2020, a small village raised their white flags as an SOS. It was one of the most desperate situations we had ever seen. But God saw it too. And he responded in ways that none of us saw coming.

This is truly only a story God could write.

One of the greatest dangers for a believer is to get so familiar and comfortable with “doing church” and “being good” that we settle for it instead of Christ.

The story of Samson is sobering to me. God had gifted him with super strength. But instead of following God’s lead, he began to rely on his own strength and was unaware that God was no longer empowering him.

“Samson did not know that the Lord had left him.” Judges 16:20

I recognize myself in that story. I go days without praying or reading God’s Word. I choose my will over His. I try to live MY life in my own power instead of clinging to God’s strength and direction.

I wonder how long it would take to discover if the Holy Spirit left?

Thankfully, God promises to never leave. But, at times, I think we stray. We choose to ignore His voice. And attempt to “do life on our own.”

May we never get so self-sufficient that we think we no longer need Him. God, we want and need you. - Sandi

God sees what you can’t. He not only knows the future, but He also goes before you every step into your unknown.

All throughout the Bible, God spoke before the people could see it. He told Noah to build a boat because rain was coming. It had never rained before.

God told Abraham that he would be a father long before he had children.

And God told Joshua to march around Jericho for days before the city walls fell.

“…the wall collapsed and they marched in and took the city.” Joshua 6:20

Because they trusted God’s voice more than what they could see, Joshua and the people marched around a city for days. In faith. And days later, just as God promised, the walls fell.

I don’t know what you’re seeing or feeling today. But I do know that God is working beyond what you can see, feel, or predict. Keep faithfully marching. He keeps His promises. – Sandi

You are blessed today. Want to know why? Because you’re still standing!

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test,
he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.”
James 1: 12

God sees the weight you carry. The marathon race called life that you’re running. And He promises to bless your perseverance. You get credit for holding on and finishing strong.

God applauds when you don’t give up. He honors the love that you have for him, your faith, and your persistence.

I don’t fully know what a “crown of life” is. But can you imagine God giving you a blessing or gift because you simply trusted Him day after day and held on to His hand?

Stand strong today. Stay faithful, humble, and surrendered. He is with you. He sees you. And your reward is coming. – Sandi

This still messes with us to this day… Thanks to generous listeners like you, in 2020, you were not only able to provide an entire village of families with food for the year, but with your donations through JOY FM, Orphan Outreach was able to provide help *overnight* to Honduras after two hurricanes hit back-to-back in November, AND he fed babies that were starving in prison that were not able to receive food otherwise.

On most days, I feel like I’m in “over my head.” I lack what it takes to be a good wife, mother, friend, leader, etc. If you can relate, here is some good news:

“If you lack wisdom, ask God, who gives generously without finding fault.” James 1:5

God knows. It all. Including the fact that we need help. He knows we need Him. And instead of picking at our faults and condemning us, He gives what we need most: wisdom.

If you’re struggling with making a decision, knowing the next step or how to tackle a problem (and aren’t we all?) ...ask God. He invites you to come and ask.

He isn’t a God of confusion. He is generous to give you the wisdom you need.

Pray. Spend time in His Word. And you’ll find God’s heart and wisdom for everything you’re facing. – Sandi
