Niles village trustees approved changes to the Gross Pointe Touhy TIF last night, which makes way for a new corporate HQ to move to Niles from Lincolnwood.

The Niles Village trustees approved three ordinances at their Tuesday, June 23 meeting to expand the Gross Pointe Touhy Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District, clearing the way for a new corporate headquarters.

Niles has always embraced public art, although they have a defined financial policy for public art, they do not have a written policy regarding murals. The Arts and Culture Advisory Council is working to correct that.

Niles Public Arts & Culture Advisory Council members discussed creating a formal policy for murals in the village at their meeting on June 16. The issue will be discussed again at the council's next meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Niles Village Hall.

Niles Pride held their 4th annual Rainbow Walk at Kirk Lane Park and through the neighborhood. Here is our coverage of the event. Guests came from Glenview, Des Plaines, and Chicago. Speakers included Niles Mayor George Alpogianis.

Nearly 80 people gathered at Kirk Lane Park on Saturday for the Niles Pride Rainbow Walk, a one-mile march through neighborhood sidewalks to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
