HTC: Channels to Check Out - Wild Homestead
So... It's been a good while since I've done one of these posts, so I figured it's time to start 'em back up.
As a YouTuber, I think it's important to show support for other creators, and one of the folks I've been watching recently is James Alofs.
James has a channel called Wild Homestead that chronicles his journey to build a home in the Canadian wilderness. He started the channel in November 2023 and typically posts a video every week. While technically not a camping channel, I think it still has appeal for those who, like me, enjoy watching content about wilderness survival.
James starts his journey on a piece of property that has absolutely no structures, and in the two-plus years since beginning, he has built a cabin, a wood shed, an ATV garage, and a sauna, with plans for a larger cabin on the horizon.
Along the way, he has also added a dog named Clovis to his journey, and watching this former city guy carve a home out of the wilderness with his own hands is inspiring. It also helps that the dude is a bit of a goofball, with his catchphrase being "Ooga Booga!"
Overall, James's videos are entertaining, and the way he films everything with a few cameras and a drone is pretty cool in itself. So give his channel a look.
