"A Florida prosecutor who was one of two fired by Gov. Ron DeSantis as part of his war on "wokeness" is questioning the timing of her dismissal while revealing that she was poised to bring charges against a bevy of crooked cops.
In an interview with the Daily Beast's Jose Pagliery, Orlando-based State Attorney Monique Worrell suggested that DeSantis -- who is running a faltering campaign to be the 2024 Republican Party's presidential nominee -- may have been giving a local sheriff an assist by removing her from her post.
Worrell notes she was looking into a cover-up conspiracy among law officers who were faking documents to disguise accusations of abusive behavior.
Speaking with the Beast, she explained, "They thought that I was overly critical of law enforcement and didn't do anything against ‘real criminals.' Apparently there’s a difference between citizens who commit crimes and cops who commit crimes.”
Worrell reportedly noted that there are approximately 20 law enforcement agencies that were balking at her investigation and DeSantis rode to their rescue.
"And they were all working against me, because I was prosecuting their cops, the ones who used to do things and get away with them,” she accused.
Pagliery wrote, "of all his stunning power grabs, perhaps the most shocking was the vengeful way DeSantis removed two progressive prosecutors in Central Florida. In August of last year, he fired Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren, citing the prosecutor’s stated refusal to jail women for having an abortion that violated Florida’s increasingly stringent and conservative laws."
According to Worrell, it appears DeSantis has been targeting her for months.
"Worrell said she’s less than two weeks away from making the final decision of whether or not to sue the state over the way it handled her ousting. But she’s already developing a plan to run for re-election next year—potentially facing her replacement as an incumbent," Pagliery wrote.

"The former Director of Black Voices for Trump Harrison Floyd was denied bond at his initial appearance based on the fact that when he was indicted, he was already out on bond for Assault on a Federal Officer.
He told the judge that he could not afford to hire an attorney, so he was not represented by counsel at the hearing. He told the court that every attorney he spoke to wanted $40-100,000 down to take his case and he couldn't afford that. The judge informed him he could represent himself.
The judge said she was denying bond because of the seriousness of the charge, a risk to commit other crimes, and a risk of flight. She also said he could file a motion for a bond with the judge assigned to his case."
He was also denied a public defender based on his assets.

"Hydrate Detroit's Response to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department resuming water shutoffs to residents in the city of Detroit.
Hello City of Detroit Residents, Neighbors, and concerned citizens to whom it may concern.
This is my first public email letter to address the truth regarding the controversial water shutoffs in the city of Detroit and Hydrate's attempt to stop the water shutoffs for good.
Please bear with me as i hate writing emails and long paragraphs but i am willing to do this cause i want everyone reading this to hear me loud and clear as we are very close to ending this dangerous situation facing our city, once and for all.
Hydrate Detroit is working very hard to prevent Detroit residents from having their water services disconnected or prevent the water from being shut off in their homes.
On Wednesday August 2, 2023 it was revealed during a subcommittee meeting of The Detroit Board of Water Commissioners, there are 6,500 Detroit Residents that are on the Detroit Residential Water Lifeline Plan have defaulted on their payments.
Hydrate Detroit asked for specific data and requested details that have not been given by DWSD as of this time. I have contacted the news media and some national organizations that have power and access to FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to request information from the water department of how many Detroit residents owe debt and what we could do to help cash them out or pay off their debt to keep them in the program. no information was given furthermore as i write this letter.
Last week, at the Detroit Water Board of Commissioners Meeting it was also revealed that 250 up to 700 commercial properties that are classified as "High Earners" in certain affluent Detroit neighborhoods have not paid their water bills. I have asked for this information in a breakdown how many commercial properties are "residential housing under a LLC or business name entity", i also asked why has their not been enforcement of these businesses or corporations. Per the director, Gary Brown of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department that "these are my friends and colleagues" which is Unbelievable for a behest of reasons that are outrageous to be heard of but nonetheless, this is where we are today.
Hydrate Detroit has been sounding the clarion call of action since January 6, 2023, for everyone to pay their water bill or address their situation before the official date of shutoff. We have done our part in helping all of our clients and residents sign up for the Detroit Water Lifeline Plan already in place. Hydrate has also made interviews, and pressers while engaging in active conversations to fight back for our water not to be shut off again.
it was earlier this year revealed that 60,000 people are delinquent on their water bills while 20,000 people are at risk of disconnection. The DWSD has not shutoff water for a few months while Hydrate Detroit and other water groups campaigned for more time and patience while we signed up more people to the Detroit Lifeline Plan. So what is the big rush to resume water shutoffs. Remember water shutoffs will not make money or produce revenue to save DWSD from whatever budget and bad debt expense to cover.
Shutoffs also do not work as when the affected household pays the restoration amount to resume service and enroll in a payment plan, its a waste of time and resources that for 7 entire years before the covid-19 pandemic absolutely makes no sense.
For the past week, i have been getting calls from residents worried about their water being shutoff from a previous past due water bill debt for various reasons including the covid-19 pandemic, job loss or layoffs, medical issues, bereavement of a family member and a strong wave of recent evictions from the housing moratorium that has expired earlier this year. Hydrate has helped people sign up for the lifeline plan to have their water arrears debt to be erased and to pay a cheaper rate on their water bill, no matter what the circumstance is.
Let me say this as the chief director of this organization, we will not be moved by the propaganda spreading of false narratives and justifications of any water shutoff in the city of Detroit no matter who they are. However i will not advocate for millionaires and billionaires who receive public tax dollars and subsidies to not get shutoff.
Corporations (who are people) have not paid their fair share of water bills in the city of Detroit but the large commercial block of water customers can work out their situations without threats and intimidation. Why is this continue to happen for citizens who are paying their water bill and still struggling to zero out the bill? there should be lots of questions to be asked and a proper explanation should be given to all the citizens from the department and the social agency tasked with overseeing the program.
I will also not allow the DWSD to continue prioritizing financial profits over public health and safety of this city and its residents. Hydrate is gonna continue to ensure every resident has the opportunity to address their situations without disconnection of service to the best of our ability. I am calling on everyone reading this letter to please do whatever you can to do whatever it is by fighting back against water shutoffs in the city of Detroit.
Attend the next Detroit Water and Sewerage Department Board of Water Commissioners Subcommittee meetings Wednesday September 6, 2023 at 1:00pm In person at the DWSD Water Board Headquarters located at 735 Randolph Street or attend virtually on zoom. There is the formal meeting of the whole with the Detroit BOWC also on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at 2:00pm at the same location and address in person and virtually on zoom
Call Mayor Mike Duggan at (313) 224-3400 and tell him to PERMANENTLY stop the water shutoffs in the city of Detroit. The Mayor next Charter mandated district meeting will be in District 7 on Monday August 28, 2023 at 7:00pm located at Kedesh Baptist Church, 20361 Plymouth Rd in Detroit. This would be a perfect time for city residents and concerned community members to attend this meeting. Do whatever you can to Make Mayor Duggan understand that water is life and how important it is to stop water shutoffs for good.

The city of Detroit is expected to resume water shutoffs for customers who are behind on their bills.
🚨 EMERGENCY ALERT 🚨: We have received word that DWSD began shutting off water to Detroit residents yesterday. PLEASE this post. Our Water Hotline volunteers can assist Detroiters with locating emergency water and making payment arrangements with DWSD. We can also assist with finding and navigating the various water resources that are currently available.
Join us THIS WEDNESDAY at 2pm at the Board of Water Commissioners Meeting to tell DWSD that shutoffs are an egregiously inhumane practice that puts all of us in danger of contracting and spreading infectious diseases. 💧🚱
