Hi,

I’m reaching out anonymously because I’m afraid of backlash, but I really want to bring something to your attention about a recent concert event in Detroit, Michigan.

The event took place at Kash & Company at Harpos in Detroit, MI on November 29, 2025. It was organized by a man who goes by “Patron Man,” also known as “Dre.” The concert was scheduled to run from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Workers were told we would be working from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with specific pay amounts agreed to in advance.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear the event was poorly planned and unsafe:
• Parking security didn’t know where to direct staff, even after we explained we were part of the promoters’ team. We were basically told to “park wherever.”
• Inside, the building was extremely cold, which was surprising given that known artists were performing and a large crowd was expected.
• There was no real plan in place for staff or guests:
• The door woman had to keep asking how to handle tickets and wristbands and was left dealing with unruly customers with little support.
• The two women hosting had to run around trying to find tables and seats for guests who had paid for reserved sections because there was no proper seating plan.
• Security was disorganized and, at times, unsafe. People were smoking in different parts of the building, tasers were brought inside, and at least one guest was reportedly attacked by security.

On top of that, the way workers were treated and paid was very unfair:
• We were told our work hours would end around 11:30 p.m.
• Later, we were told we were “done working” and to wait to be paid.
• Instead of leaving around 11:30 p.m., many of us didn’t leave until after 2:00 a.m., still waiting around for payment.
• When people finally did get paid, many were underpaid, and some of us are still waiting on the rest of what we were promised.

This affected bartenders, security, hostesses, and other staff. To my knowledge, nobody was properly paid according to the agreements. I came there, like many others, just trying to work, support someone from our city, and earn what we were promised. Instead, we were used, kept for extra hours, and then underpaid or not fully paid at all.

I also want to be clear that I am not solely blaming the party promoter. From what we were told, regardless of the exact contract terms, the main artist publicly promoted that she would be in attendance at this event. Instead, she went to another major artist’s concert and performed there the same night, reportedly after being paid only half of the contracted amount for this event. So while there seem to be serious issues with how the event was run and how workers were treated, it also feels like the artist’s actions contributed to the situation and to people in our community being let down.

I’m sharing this with you because it feels like part of a bigger problem:
– unsafe event conditions
– no real planning or accountability
– and people in our own community being exploited as cheap or free labor, while fans and workers are misled.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for using your platform to highlight what’s really going on in our city.

***Homicide Case Update***
On November 25, 2025, William David Parker, 40, of Ypsilanti, was found guilty by a jury in the 3rd Circuit Court of Second-Degree Murder for the fatal stabbing of Marcell Pongratz. The incident occurred on October 26, 2024, at Big League Brew’s, located at 20428 Ecorse Road in the City of Taylor.

Incident Details:
On the night of the incident, officers responded to 911 calls of a stabbing that occurred behind the business. While officers were searching the area, they were notified that a stabbing victim had arrived at Beaumont Taylor Hospital. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Marcell Pongratz, was later transferred to Beaumont Dearborn, where he was pronounced deceased from a single stab wound to the chest.

Detectives conducted numerous witness interviews, reviewed surveillance footage, and gathered physical evidence linking Parker to the assault.

Through investigative work including the identification of a vehicle left at the scene, recovery of clothing items, witness statements, and emergency phone location data, detectives were able to locate Parker at a residence in Ypsilanti. The Downriver SWAT Team executed a search warrant without incident, and Parker was taken into custody on October 26th, 2024.

Parker is scheduled to be sentenced on 12/11/2025.

Troy Police have arrested a man accused in a gunpoint gas station robbery caught on video.

Joseph Louis Carter, 38, is charged with Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of Firearm, and two counts of Felony Firearm - Second Offense, in connection with an incident at the Shell station on Rochester Road at South Boulevard.
At around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 20, police said the suspect walked in carrying "what appeared to be an AK-47 style rifle," approached the cash register, and demanded money.
Heard in security video released by police, the suspect tells the clerk, "Give me everything."
With one hand full of cash, the robber points the rifle at the clerk while ordering him to put his hands on his head and turn around.
"Count to a hundred; I'm not gonna kill you," the suspect says.
When the clerk starts counting, the gunman turns to leave as he threatens: "If you move, you die."
The suspect then fled on foot with the money. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.
Announcing Carter's arrested on Monday, police thanked the public and assisting law enforcement agencies for the "valuable information and assistance that helped move this case forward."
Police said the arrest was also was made possible through the exceptional teamwork and dedication of the Troy PD's patrol officers, evidence technicians, detectives, Tactical Support Team, Directed Patrol Unit (DPU), and Special Investigations Unit (SIU), adding: "We are proud of the cohesive effort by our department members to identify, locate, and ultimately arrest Carter without incident. We are also grateful to our community for their continued support, which ensures that we have the tools and resources necessary to do our jobs effectively."
Carter was arraigned in 52-4 District Court on Monday. Bond was denied, and he was remanded to the Oakland County Jail to await his next court date. WWJ Newsradio 950

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Terrell Epel Youngblood, 21, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy, also of Detroit.

On August 23, 2025, at approximately 8:14 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 14800 block of Monte Vista for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers canvassed the area and discovered the victim near the Adam Butzel Recreational Center in the 10000 block of Lyndon Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Youngblood produced and fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding the victim, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on October 31, 2025.

Terrell Epel Youngblood has been charged with Second-Degree Murder, Felony Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.*
He was arraigned and remanded to jail on November 3, 2025, in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 10, 2025, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 17, 2025, before Judge Shawn Jacque.

”No parent should have to bury their child,” said Chief Todd Bettison. “This cowardly act of violence was just heartless and senseless. It makes no sense whatsoever. I want to thank my officers for their relentless efforts in holding this person responsible and accountable. I want the family to know my thoughts and prayers are with you.”

Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, “These shootings are so profoundly violent and senseless. A 16-year-old boy is dead leaving his family with an unspeakable loss as a result of the alleged actions of a 21-year-old man. It is the definition of a tragedy.”
