Circa 1975 , James Riddle Hoffa aka was an American labor union leader who served as the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1957 until 1971. Eastside of Detroit in the vicinity of Toledo Street, and Ferdinand Street. From an early age, Hoffa was a union activist, and he became an important regional figure with the IBT by his mid-twenties.

Detroit neighborhood friends all in their late teens at

Avis (a.k.a. Wonderful Wayne), and Charles Lindsey
(a.k.a. Choicey Chuck) were the original founders at
The time. Shortly after the formation of Y.B.I., a man
From the same neighborhood named Raymond
Peoples joined and became a boss. Two years later,
(a.k.a. Big Boy) was paroled from prison

From the start, Y.B.I’s main place of operation was

$300,000 per day. After the split, Davis sent one of
His top lieutenants to Boston to expand his operation.

Owners were Black’s grandparents, Leroy Folks and
Johnnie Mae Folks. They opened the skating rink to
The public on Jan. 9, 1955. The space was going to
Be a nightclub, but once a nearby roller rink
Experienced a fire, there was a demand for another
Rink in the area.
The building is just as it was when it opened in the
1950s, with small renovations along the way.
Because of that Black had planned to tear it down
And rebuild across four commercial lots along
Schaefer, from Electric and Liddesdale streets.
