Cleaned up the tape. Literally had to remove the film from the cart and do some surgery to put it all back together. This is very uncomfortable.

At 4:30 this morning, the doorbell rang.

Groggy and half-conscious, I dragged myself out of bed, annoyed more than alarmed—until I checked my Ring cam. Nothing. No alert, no motion. Just dead silence and static.

That’s when the chill crept in.

I shuffled to the front door, still rubbing the sleep from my eyes. When I opened it, there it was—another VHS tape. Caked in dirt. Damp. And writhing, halfway lodged inside the reel, was a worm.

It looked like it had been pulled from the earth.

No note. No explanation. Just the tape. I don’t know where it came from, or who’s leaving them—but I’m going to clean it off and see what’s on this one.

God help me.

This was sent in the mail on VHS tape held together by gum and paper clips. How it worked, how they found us, or how they knew we owned a VHS player? We will never know. I think it was meant for Horror Slam. Rachael Green Breyer Wellington
