I started a 75Hard Challenge today, including reading for personal development, so I'm also reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.

Nobody tells you that grief sometimes looks like researching the fair market value of 3 used printers, 6 old cd cleaners, and 5 different rolling carts. 😅

After someone dies, there are the things you expect.

The sadness.
The memories.
The photographs you haven't seen in years.
The things you pick up and immediately remember exactly where they sat when you were a kid.

And then there's...

"How much is this printer worth?"

"What's actually inside this custom-built computer?"

"Does anybody want this?"

"Who gets that?"

As executor of my dad's estate, I've found myself learning an entirely new and very strange skill set: amateur appraiser of Random Dad Stuff™.

I've researched furniture. Electronics. Computers. Tools. Things I didn't know had resale value. Things I thought had value that apparently nobody wants. And things whose sentimental value is infinitely greater than anything I could ever put into a spreadsheet.

And sometimes, trying to make everything fair is harder than figuring out what anything is actually worth.

That's probably been one of the more unexpected lessons of this whole experience.

Fair doesn't necessarily mean everyone gets everything they want. It means trying to use the same rules for everyone—even when emotions are involved. And when you're dealing with the belongings of someone you loved, there are always emotions involved.

So tonight's strange little rabbit hole is apparently:

🐇 What IS the fair market value of a used printer?

Because grief is weird.

Estate administration is weirder.

And apparently my coping mechanism is a spreadsheet.

A couple of things!

🧙‍♀️I haven't shared me in my cool new gnomean hat to go with being an ordained minister.

✨️I'm feeling so much better about my skin.
I have omitted spicy food and fine-tuned my skin care routine. I feel so even and less red. Better yet, no burning or pain.
Cereve's tinted mineral sunblock and mascara are all I'm wearing for my most natural work look.

Side Quest Complete

I can perform wedding ceremonies in Michigan and Ohio. Since I live near the border I looked into these two states, but Church of Gnome is recognized nationally, so I could be open to all states (pending legal process).

Yes, this is real.
Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed.
This is just one step of many I will be taking to bring joy and whimsy to the lives around me.
